Daniel is your boyfriend of 1 year. You've always had your insecurities and been a little self-conscious which was why you never had a boyfriend until Daniel came along. He never once mentioned any of your flaws and was too charming to resist. He easily swooped you off your feet and you had to admit, you fell hard. You grew so close to him and became so emotionally invested that when things started to go downhill, you couldn't leave him. After 6 months of dating, he changed. He started being really secretive and keeping things from you. Whenever you questioned him, he would get really defensive and would try to turn it back on you. He also just started acting really arrogant and self-absorbed. Before you go out in public together, he has to make sure that you look "good enough to be seen with him" and would make you change if you didn't. Some of your friends have picked up on his behavior and don't like him anymore. Especially Jaebum. Whenever he wants to hang out with you, he doesn't want Daniel to be there, but Daniel doesn't let you go anywhere by yourself. He's always stuck to you like glue and never lets you have space. Jaebum gets really irritated and its's awkward when Jaebum sees Daniel walking in with you if you go out to lunch or something. Right now, you were going to a small get together at your friend's house. There were only about 15 people so it was nothing hectic, Jaebum was there of course. When you arrived, everyone looked at the door and all greeted you when you walked in, but their smiles faded when they saw Daniel and some even rolled their eyes. You walked up to your friend Maria and gave her a hug. "(Y/n), glad you could make it, but we could've done without," she looked at Daniel. "that." She said. You smiled apologetically. "I know. I'm sorry." She sighed. "I still don't understand why you're still with him." You sighed too. "It's complicated." You got settled in and watched as they played Cards Against Humanity. Your friends decided to be civil and let Daniel play in Jaebum's place after he wanted to sit out. You were sitting next to Daniel looking at his cards and laughing silently. You pointed to one of the cards you thought would fit perfectly but he shrugged you off. "Stop, that one is stupid. I'm not picking it." He said quietly. Not everyone heard, but the ones who did just gave him dirty looks. You backed off and sat silently until you felt a tap on your shoulder. You looked over and saw Jaebum gesturing for you to come over. You stood up and followed him as he led you into the kitchen. He handed you a can of pop and you took it. "If this get together was at my house, I wouldn't allow you to bring him." He said. You laughed. "I probably wouldn't go then. He goes everywhere I go." You said. Jaebum knitted his eyebrows. "Why does he do that? He has to follow you around but I bet he comes and goes as he pleases, right?" He asked. You nodded. "If he goes out with his friends, he makes me stay home and if I want to go out, he thinks he has to come with me." You said quietly. "Why can't you just tell him no?" He asked, trying to keep voice down. You shrugged. He shook his head. "Do you even take this seriously? Are you that blind to see what kind of guy he is? He's trash. I bet he doesn't even care about you." He said getting a little mad. You too were a little heated after hearing that. "How could you say that? I love him." You said. He laughed and continued with a stern voice. "No, you think you love him. I've known you longer than he has and long enough to know your feelings. You were naive and fell for his trap. I told you I didn't like him from the start. I tried to warn you about him, I thought he was shady, and what did you do? You ignored me and continued to date him. I know you (y/n)." His voice got soft. "You're dying on the inside. The way he treats you is just- I hate it. You act like you're okay and you keep telling yourself that he loves you and you love him, but that's not the case anymore. And I know you're not going to like this, but I think he's using you." He said. You furrowed your eyebrows but stayed silent because everything he said is true. "I mean look at you. You're gorgeous, any man would kill to have you. And you're so sweet and it just makes me want to protect you." You blushed at his words. "Jaebum-" He cut you off. "I think Daniel knows that. That's why he's so possessive. He so insecure that you'll someday realize that you can do so much better than him and he doesn't want to lose you but he likes to show you off to other guys to make him look good. Frankly I don't care what he wants, I just want you to leave him, because you can do so much better. You don't deserve to be treated like this." He said. Tears started forming in your eyes. Jaebum smiled a little and cupped your face. "It's okay, don't cry." He wiped your tears. "You're right." You whispered and cleared your throat. "I don't deserve this. I really did love him at one point, but I don't know anymore." You said. You both jumped when you heard a loud voice booming through the house. "What is this?!" Daniel yelled. He walked up and yanked Jaebum's hands off your face. "Get the hell away from her!" He yelled. Then he turned to you. "What do you think you're doing? Messing around with him while your boyfriend is in he other room! You little whore!" He spat. "Okay whoa!" Jaebum pushed him away. "Don't talk to her like that!" He yelled. By now, your friends were crowded around to see what the commotion was. "She's my girlfriend so mind your own business!" He grabbed your wrist and tried to drag you out the door. You yanked your hand away. "Let go!" You yelled. He froze and turned to look at you. "What?" He said as if he couldn't believe his ears. "Look, I don't know what he brainwashed you with, but we are leaving. Now." "I'm not going anywhere." You said. He started laughed. "That's funny, now come on." "She said she's not going anywhere." Jaebum said. "Yeah, so just leave by yourself." Maria said. Daniel looked shocked. "Let's talk for a second." He grabbed you and pulled you outside, closing the door behind him. "What are you doing? Why are you being like this?" He asked. "I should be the one asking you that." You said. He made a face. "I'm breaking up with you." You said. He stood frozen for a second before stuttering. "I don't understand." "I'm breaking up with you!" You yelled. "Do I have to spell it out?" He suddenly turned into a lost puppy. "(Y/n), come on, I mean, we've been together for a year." He said. "Yeah, and half of that year my life was wasted. I'm leaving you and that's final." You opened to door to go back inside. "Well then don't plan on coming home tonight and I want all of your stuff out by tomorrow." He said. "No problem." You slammed the door in his face. You turned back to your friends who had looks of relief. Maria walked up and ave you a hug. "I'm so proud of you. And you're more than welcome to move in with me." She said. "Thanks." You said weakly. Jaebum was next and pulled you into a tight hug. Neither of you said anything. You just stood in each other's embrace for a good minute. The others left to give you a little privacy. He let you go. "I can't believe I just did that." You said. Jaebum's eyes widened. "Why? Are you regretting it?" He asked. "Yes." You said. "(Y/n)!" He yelled. You smiled a little. "I'm kidding. I'm just in shock. I just let go of my first love." "Yeah, first loves are always the toughest." He said. "How would you know?" You asked. "Because I had to watch mine get treated horribly by her boyfriend for the past year." You blinked. "W-wait, who are you-" "You, (y/n). You were- are my first love. Do you know how I felt when you and Daniel started dating? I wanted to die and when I saw how he treated you, I went crazy, I just-" You put a finger to his lips. "Jaebum, you are by far the sweetest person I've ever met and I'm really glad I have someone like you in my life." You said. He smirked. "I noticed how you didn't call me a friend, meaning I'm not in the friendzone." He wiggled his eyebrows and you laughed. "You catch on fast." You said. His face got serious. "Wait, so you mean I have a chance with you?" He said. You smiled and looked away. "It's possible." He suddenly picked you up and spun you around kissing your cheeks repeatedly. "I won't disappoint you my love!" He said dramatically. All you could do was blush. Then, he boldly grabbed your face and kissed you. You heard a gasp making you both pull away. "I knew you both would be cute together!" Maria yelled.
