Me: Yeah, will this one-hour-long porn be enough for you to blackmail this man?
Shit: Of course, Sweetheart. 💋
Me: Fuck off
Shaking her head, she threw her phone aside, recording the whole footage, and she sent it to the most narcissistic man she had ever seen in mankind. Yet she was bound to work with him. Weeping for her fate, she frowned at the screen.
It is taking a little longer than usual to download this. This is what she hates about working from home, wi-fi here sucks.
She waited, and waited, and waited... eyes grew wild, the door swung open.
"Varu- what are you doing?" Anjali, her mother stood there. Hands holding a plate, eyes narrowed at her child.
Varya slapped the laptop shut, eyes wide in horror. "W-wo, mummy. Ahem, office work... hehe."
She smiled at her—at least she tried..
"Again, office? You do realise there is life outside that? Look at you, still haven't washed your face." She narrowed her eyes. "I told you to get ready, right? We have to clean the house. The suitor's family will be coming by evening, and you are still not ready."
Varya frowned. They are still coming? What the hell is that kid doing?!- She thought about Hriday
The things they do, not officially official. She provides him with proof to win his case, and he shoo away all the possible suitors for her.
She can't marry, not now. Not EVER.
It's not something her duty had prohibited her from, but she had goals. She can't drag any innocent life with her.
She had trained for this, hours, days, years. She doesn't want anyone in her life; she doesn't want to be bound to anyone. Any man.
She unknowingly glared at her phone, as if the man would walk out of it and serve his head, so she could gouge his eyes out and bash his head with her heel. And then she would-
"Varya!?"
She flinched at the loud voice, breaking out of her gore fantasy of murdering her teammate. She looked at her mother and raised her eyebrows in question.
"Yes," tucking back her bangs, she looked at her mother.
"Dhyan kahan hai tera? I said, ladke wale sham tak ayenge. Go to the parlour with Vaani." Her mother twitched her lips, eyeing Varya's undone eyebrows and unwaxed hands with disapproval.
(Where are your thoughts? I said, the suitors will come in the evening, go to the parlour with Vaani.
Before she could say anything, Anjali's phone started ringing. And Varya frowned, the colour washed away from her mother's face.
She looked pale, almost like ash.
She looked at Varya, with almost no expression but pain. "Mummy?"
"They are not coming," Anjali whispered. The phone was cut, and she was staring at the blank screen. Varya frowned.
"Who?"
Her phone pinged, and Varya bit back her smirk. Oh, she knows who is not coming.
"The person who was coming to see you. They are not coming anymore." Varya swore she almost grinned, but composed herself.
"I wonder why..." She murmured, her lips curved down with sadness, hiding her inner joy.
She was enjoying everything when she noticed something. Her mother looked haunted, as if something terrible, terrible happened.
