A little light in the darkness

I was lying in my bed thinking about the past events. Davina died, Zac died, my parents were dead and my aunt too. I was all alone. Tears were running down my face. I felt sick. I hadn't eat for a week and I was probably not going to eat in the following days. I closed my eyes and tried to sleep.

I woke up when a heard a knock on the door. Cami was standing on the threshold.

"Hey, Cami."

"Can I come in?"

She walked inside and sat down on the couch.

"How are you doing?"

"Well, I lost my family so how do you think I'm doing?"

She kept silent. I really felt sick now. I hurried to the bathroom and threw up.

"Are you okay?" Cami asked.
I didn't reply. I was busy throwing up. When I was done, I turned to Cami.
"Can you do something for me?"

"And?" Cami asked.

"The 2 minutes are almost over."

"I'm too scared to look. Can you look?"

She didn't speak for a minute.

The next day I went to the compound. I needed to see Hayley. I saw Marcel but I didn't want to even talk to him. Sure he cared for Davina but he still killed Zac. I went to Hayley's room and knocked on her door.

"Hi Amelia."

"Can I come in?"

We talked for an hour or so about things but I was only half listening to her. I felt sick and suddenly I couldn't keep it down much longer.

"Where's the bathroom?" I asked.

"First room left."

I ran to the bathroom and gagged. I felt terrible.

"OMG! Is that what I think it is?" Hayley asked.

"Yes, it's vomit!" I shrugged.

"Amelia Claire? Are you-?"

She didn't have time to finish her sentence.

"Yes Hayley Marshall, I'm pregnant."

I went downstairs after another hour of talking. She was really excited for me. But I'm not. This child is going to grow up in a world full of misery and without a father.

I saw Marcel still siting in the same spot. I went over to him. I saw in how much pain he was.

"You cared about her didn't you?"

He just shrugged and took a swig from his bourbon.

"You know...I didn't kill him."

"I did not kill your husband."

"Then why did you lie to me?"

"I have a reputation to uphold. Not that it matters now."

"You know, I didn't thank you yet for keeping my niece save from the witches."

"Yeah well all for nothing." He gulped down his drink.

"You want some?" He asked me.

"No thanks."

"Amelia Claire did you just deny a drink from your king?"

"I suppose I have."

It was silent for a minute until he gasped and smiled.

"What?" I asked confused.

"You're pregnant?!"

"Yes, little baby down here," I pointed to my stomach.

He smiled. I stood up and was ready to leave when he suddenly wrapped his arms around mine.

"I miss her." He whispered.

"Me too."

"We'll find a way to bring her back."
