Rain began to pelt my window almost as soon as I felt my consciousness drifting off into sleep.
Shit
Jonas doesn't have a car. I should give him a ride back, both Jonas and Sadie, that is.
I grabbed my keys off my dresser and walked downstairs to my front door. I turned off my house alarm so I wouldn't wake my parents up due to me leaving.
My dad, almost mystically, "Tommie; what are you doing this late?" He says from the living room. Seems he fell asleep watching TV and the TV automatically turned off after being idle for a while.
"Jonas and Sadie are at the park, they'll probably need a ride home. It just started to rain and Jonas biked there and Sadie walked there. I thought I'd be helpful." I said.
"Be safe please, watch for deer," my father said.
"I will." I grabbed the handle on the door and almost immediately was pelted by rain. I quickly walked out of my house and closed the door. I walked over to my car when
CRACKKKKKK
A scream of thunder had pierced my ears. I quickly opened my door and it flung open due to the wind, narrowly missing the side of my house. I got in the car and closed the door. I turned on my car and drove off.
The road was slick, so I made sure to break slow. The rain made it hard to see, so I made sure to keep my wipers on the highest setting.
Once I got to the park, the rain had gotten worse. The thunder was more frequent and had gotten much louder.
It had been 1 hour since Jonas had called me.
There's a chance that they went home to get away from the rain, but I just wanted to make sure.
I grabbed my umbrella in the pocket in the bottom of the driver's side door and open my car door. The door flung open so aggressively, I was afraid of it breaking off. I then walked down the path towards the pond, I noticed a bike lying by itself and immediately recognized it as Jonas'. It seemed quickly abandoned, just thrown aside.
I ran towards the pond. It was dark and the rain wasn't helping, but I made it there.
There was no one to be seen.
I walked the length of the concrete platform, making sure my umbrella wouldn't fly away from me.
"JONAS?" I yelled.
No response, but I wouldn't be able to tell if there was one due to the thunder.
Maybe Sadie brought her umbrella knowing that there was gonna be a storm and both of them are walking back safely under an umbrella now.
That was probably it. I had walked the full length of the platform and had seen nothing. I turned back around and began to walk back.
CRASH
A sudden flash of light had illuminated the entirety of the platform to me, almost as if there was a force guiding me. And there on the path before me lay 2 almost naked still bodies lying on the path, having only Jonas's boxers covering him and what seemed like Jonas's pants covering Sadie. Had I walked over them? In any case, I ran towards them. Struggling to not slip on the wet concrete.
When I reached them, they were both still. I checked their pulses. Jonas was still breathing and had a strong pulse, where Sadie had a weak pulse and had stopped breathing. I then remembered back to health class.
I then began to perform CPR on Sadie to a popular 80s song.
Sadie then threw up all of the water in her lungs and had fallen limp once more.
Knowing I could do nothing more to help, I called 911.
