The following days were a whirlwind of excitement after the kiss incident, with everyone still buzzing about it. Shoto and I spent more time together, feeling the thrill of being open about our relationship. However, amidst the laughter and joy, a storm was brewing just beyond the horizon.

One afternoon, our class was called in for a surprise training exercise at U.A., focusing on emergency response scenarios. The atmosphere was electric with anticipation as we divided into teams, each tasked with handling different scenarios that required quick thinking and teamwork.

I was paired with Shoto, and the familiarity of our partnership brought a sense of comfort. We worked seamlessly together, utilizing our strengths—his ice and fire powers complementing my nature abilities as we navigated through the challenges.

However, during one exercise that simulated a villain attack, the situation took a sudden turn. While we were in the middle of executing a strategy, alarms blared throughout the facility. The sound cut through the air, and a voice over the intercom warned of a breach in the training area.

"Everyone, stay calm and follow the emergency protocols!" the voice instructed.

I looked at Shoto, who immediately turned serious. "We need to make sure everyone's safe."

"Let's check the other teams," I replied, my heart racing as we moved through the chaos. The hallways were filled with students trying to understand what was happening, and I could sense the tension in the air.

As we rounded a corner, we stumbled upon a group of students cornered by a few villains who had somehow infiltrated the training exercise. My heart dropped.

"Shoto, we need to help them!" I said urgently.

He nodded, his expression determined. "On three. One, two, three!"

We sprang into action, but just as we engaged, a villain turned toward me, launching an attack. In the chaos, I dodged, but not quickly enough. A powerful blast of energy struck me, knocking me to the ground.

"Y/N!" Shoto's voice cut through the noise, filled with panic.

The world around me faded into a blur as pain shot through my body. I struggled to get up, but the energy left me disoriented. I glanced over and saw Shoto fight back against the villains, his powers on full display, but the fear in his eyes was unmistakable.

"Get away from her!" he shouted, his voice fierce and protective.

With a surge of adrenaline, Shoto unleashed a powerful wave of ice that swept across the floor, encasing the nearest villain and giving him a moment to move toward me. I tried to get to my feet, but the dizziness overwhelmed me, and I stumbled back.

"Y/N!" He reached me just as I fell again, his hands gripping my shoulders. "Stay with me. Can you hear me?"

I nodded, but the pain was blurring my vision, and I could barely respond. "Shoto... I'm sorry..."

He shook his head, his expression fierce. "No, don't say that. We're getting you out of here."

With a swift motion, he wrapped an arm around my waist, lifting me as he fought off the remaining threats with precision. I could hear the chaos around us—the shouts, the sounds of battle—but all I could focus on was Shoto's voice, his unwavering determination.

As we made our way toward safety, I could feel my strength slipping. The last thing I saw was the panic in Shoto's eyes as he hurried me away from the fight, trying to keep me close.

Moments later, we were in a secure area with the other students, and medics rushed to my side. I heard voices talking, but it felt distant. Shoto's hand never left mine, his grip tight and warm.

"Stay with me, Y/N," he urged, his voice thick with emotion. "You're going to be okay. Just hang on."

I tried to respond, but my voice felt trapped in my throat. All I could do was squeeze his hand, letting him know I was still there, still fighting.

As the medics worked to stabilize me, I caught a glimpse of Shoto, his face a mixture of concern and determination. I wanted to reassure him, to tell him that I would be okay, but the pain and exhaustion made it hard to hold onto that thought.

"Y/N, please," he said, his voice breaking slightly. "Don't leave me."

In that moment, I realized the depth of our connection—the fear in his eyes mirrored my own. I wanted to fight through this for him, for us. I squeezed his hand tighter, hoping it would convey my will to survive.

"Just breathe," Shoto said, his voice a soothing anchor amid the chaos. "I'm right here."

As the medics continued their work, I focused on his voice, letting it guide me back to the surface. I wouldn't let this be the end of our story. We had so much to look forward to, and I wasn't ready to give up just yet.
