As spring blossomed into full bloom, the warmth of the sun contrasted with the lingering shadows of our past encounters. With the support of Shoto's siblings and the bonds we'd built, I felt a growing sense of confidence in our relationship.
One afternoon, Shoto and I decided to take a trip to a nearby park, a tranquil place surrounded by vibrant flowers and lush greenery. It was a perfect day for a picnic, and I had packed some treats from my family's kitchen.
"Are you sure you want to carry all this?" Shoto asked, eyeing the basket I had hoisted onto my hip, a teasing glint in his eyes.
I laughed, brushing off his concern. "I've got it! Just don't drop the blanket, okay?"
He shook his head, a smile playing at the corners of his mouth as we walked side by side. The park was alive with families, couples, and students enjoying the warm afternoon. We found a quiet spot under a large cherry blossom tree, the petals drifting down like soft rain.
As I spread out the blanket, Shoto watched, a gentle look in his eyes. "You're really good at this," he said, settling down next to me.
"Thanks! I like to cook and share food. It's a way to connect with people," I replied, opening the basket to reveal homemade sandwiches, fruit, and sweets.
"Looks amazing," he said, reaching for a sandwich. As he took a bite, I couldn't help but admire how effortlessly he fit into this moment—relaxed, happy, and completely at ease.
We chatted as we ate, sharing stories about our childhoods and dreams for the future. I learned more about Shoto's early training with his father and how he had come to embrace his own path, free from the pressures of expectations. It was inspiring to hear how he had grown, and it made me appreciate him even more.
After we finished eating, I lay back on the blanket, staring up at the dappled sunlight filtering through the branches. "This is nice," I said, feeling a sense of peace wash over me.
Shoto shifted to lie beside me, propping himself up on one elbow. "It really is. We should do this more often."
As we lay there in comfortable silence, I felt a mix of happiness and an undercurrent of apprehension. I wanted to bring up something that had been on my mind—the recent increase in villain activity. It was hard to ignore the growing tension in our world, especially with the League of Villains making headlines again.
"Shoto," I began, turning my head to meet his gaze. "What do you think about the recent attacks? It feels like things are getting more dangerous."
He frowned, a seriousness washing over his features. "I've noticed. It worries me, especially for my family and our friends at U.A."
"Yeah, I just—" I hesitated, choosing my words carefully. "I want to be there to support you, but I also worry about what could happen."
He nodded, understanding the weight of my concerns. "I know. I worry about you too. But we're training hard, and we'll face whatever comes together. We're stronger as a team."
His reassurance eased some of my anxiety. I reached for his hand, intertwining our fingers. "Together," I echoed, feeling the warmth of his touch.
Just then, we heard a commotion nearby—a group of students from U.A. were gathered, some cheering while others seemed to be taking videos. Curious, we both sat up to see what was happening.
A familiar voice rang out. "C'mon! You call that a training exercise?"
It was Bakugo, flanked by Midoriya and Kirishima, who were demonstrating their latest training techniques. I laughed, recognizing their competitive spirit. "Looks like they're putting on a show."
Shoto smiled, watching the scene unfold. "They always do. Want to join them?"
I hesitated, wanting to keep our peaceful moment, but curiosity got the better of me. "Sure! Let's see what they're up to."
As we approached the group, Bakugo was in full form, shouting instructions at Midoriya while the others cheered him on. "You gotta be faster, Deku! Focus!"
"Y-Yeah, I'm trying!" Midoriya replied, determination etched on his face.
Kirishima caught sight of us and waved, pulling Bakugo's attention away. "Hey, you two! Come watch!"
Shoto and I joined the circle, and soon we were engrossed in the friendly competition. I could feel the energy in the air, the thrill of heroes training hard to improve. It reminded me of our shared goals, our own training, and the journey we were on together.
As Bakugo continued to challenge Midoriya, I leaned closer to Shoto, whispering, "I'm glad we came. This feels... normal."
"Yeah," he replied softly, his eyes on the scene. "It's nice to see everyone enjoying themselves."
The lighthearted banter continued, and I found myself laughing alongside Shoto, feeling a sense of belonging. In that moment, surrounded by friends and laughter, the weight of the world felt a little lighter.
But as the sun began to set, casting long shadows across the park, a distant siren pierced the evening air, jolting me back to reality. I exchanged a concerned glance with Shoto, the playful atmosphere shifting in an instant.
"Something's happening," he said, his voice low.
I nodded, my heart racing as the familiar tension returned. We were heroes in training, and while we cherished moments like these, we were always aware of the danger lurking just beyond the horizon.
"Let's stay alert," I said, squeezing his hand tightly. "Whatever comes, we'll face it together."
Shoto's grip tightened in response, his expression resolute. "Together."
As the sun dipped below the horizon, I knew our lives would continue to intertwine—filled with both light and shadows—but no matter what challenges lay ahead, we would stand side by side.
