It had taken several hours and a lot more fighting, but Six had finally found the legion raid camp. Now, under the cover of night, and with the aid of a Stealth Boy he had found in Goodsprings (Six still had no idea what a Stealth Boy was doing in a schoolhouse safe), Six was able to get close enough to observe the legionnaires. Most of them appeared to be sleeping, with only a few guards keeping watch of the prisoners around the campfire, but Six knew any attempt to attack them would alert the entire camp. He could use a grenade to take care of them, but that would run the risk of killing the captives, one of whom was Loona. He did not plan on blowing her up. As six watched the guards, he suddenly thought of a plan. He still had those mines he had been saving, plus the ones he had retrieved from the Viper ambush. If he could set up a minefield and lure the legionnaires into it, it would hopefully blow them to pieces or, at the very least, incapacitate them so he could kill them himself. And anyone who remained at the camp, he could pick off with his repeater. With only 6 hours of darkness left, Six put his plan into action. He only hoped he would be able to save Loona before it was too late.
With Loona
Loona could not believe her rotten luck. After only a week of being free, she had been captured again, the only person she knew who gave a shit about her was most likely dead, and he had a splitting headache from when she was whacked over the head. It was almost as if the universe had made a hobby of making her life miserable. But even in her dire situation, Loona refused to stop fighting. She had been so aggressive after she had regained consciousness that her captors were forced to muzzle her. Loona hated being muzzled, but she was able to get a few bites in before they forced the muzzle onto her, so it was worth it. Now she was trying to get the ropes off her wrists, but apparently, legionnaires excelled at tying knots, as no matter how hard she tried, the ropes wouldn't budge.
"Don't waste your energy," one of the guards sneered, "No matter how much you struggle, you will never escape. Might as well just accept your fate like the Profligates have."
Loona couldn't answer due to the muzzle, but she just let out a snarl at the guard, only to receive a smack on the face.
"Don't you disrespect me," the guard snarled, "You are lucky our glorious Caesar wanted you brought back alive, or else you would've been crucified back at Nipton."
As the guard ranted, he did not notice the figure crouching behind a rock, aiming a rifle at his head.
"When you are returned to the fort, you will finally learn your place, mutt. Maybe then you will be useful to the..."
Before the guard could finish his rant, a gunshot broke the silence of the night, and the guard fell to the ground, a nice little hole in the side of his head. Within moments, the entire camp was awake and looking around, trying to pinpoint where the sniper was. While they were looking, another shot rang out, nailing a second legionnaire in the forehead. The legionnaires immediately turned toward the direction the bullet came from, only to see a shadowy figure darting in the opposite direction.
"There he is!"
"After him!"
A good portion of the camp took off after the figure leaving only a few men to guard the prisoners. At first, Loona was confused as to who would be crazy enough to try and attack an entire legion camp, when she remembered that there was one person she could think of who was crazy enough. Six. He must have survived the legion ambush. Now Loona hoped he could survive a war party of pissed-off legionnaires trying to kill him.
With Six
Six's plan was going perfectly. Not only was he able to drop two of the men in the camp, but he now had most of the camp chasing after him. A sane person would not consider having a bunch of angry soldiers with guns and spears chasing after you would be a good thing, but Six was far from sane. Besides, he had a little surprise waiting for them. All he had to do was get to it.
