For the record, I am starting this chapter in September 2024 and hoping that I publish it the same year if not month.
This is also kind of a short filler chapter, just so that we can get on with some good plot next.
Happy reading, loves!

Chapter 10
Meeting Dr. Cullen'Jazz can't know' Edward agreed with Alice's thought the minute she saw the vision. An overprotective Jasper, when his mate was surrounded by boys hoping to slip into her bed, would make for a rather difficult situation.
Edward absentmindedly strummed the guitar throughout music class, focused entirely on the thoughts of Shyra's classmates. Hearing too many things he'd rather not, especially not about his sister to be, he cursed whatever higher power made Shyra's mind too foggy for him.

It was during English that the slowly building headache finally got to Shyra."Rose?"
"I'm texting Carlisle."
"I don't feel very...healthy."
"You don't look it either." Rosalie sighed, raising her hand. "Miss, Shyra doesn't feel very good, do you mind if I step out with her."
"I could write you a note, yes." The teacher blinked, not used to the blonde girl talking or interacting with other students. Her eyes widened as Shyra swayed the minute she was on her feet, stabilised by Rosalie's arm around her waist. "...Or not. I don't think you need a note to get her to the nurse."
"I just called Carlisle." Edward said, catching up with Rosalie as she rounded the hallway. "And let me carry her properly. Humans are getting suspicious."
"Why? Because I, a well-built woman am capable of supporting a half conscious 100 pound girl?" She huffed, but did not protest as Edward greeted Shyra, reverting to a human friendly volume from their quiet whispers.
"Hi Shyra, d'you think you're okay with me carrying you? We'll be a lot faster." Edward asked her softly, picking her up bridal style the second she squealed out in affirmative.
"Ed..?" She groaned. "I think I'm ready to take you up on that offer. I'd like the day off." And then...it was all dark.

"Jasper is not happy about having to stay in school." Rosalie warned Carlisle, going around to the other side of Shyra's bed and smoothening her hair over."I know." He sighed, nodding his head towards an oximeter, gesturing for Rose to attach it. "Edward said we can leave the window unlocked so that he can visit her. Alice sees him too preoccupied with his worry to let blood in the hospital bother him."
"Absolutely not!" Rose announced sternly. "He can visit her like a normal person when she's awake. There's no need to violate her privacy by being a creep. Between you and I, there are over two dozen medical degrees and we aren't letting anyone else so much as give her a tablet. She will be just fine."
"Charlie's here." Carlisle let out, setting Rose into action: pulling in a chair, grabbing Shyra's hand and putting on her best concerned human act.
"Dr. Cullen." The Chief panted out.
"You can calm down Chief." Carlisle smiled. "I suspect a common viral fever and a bit of exhaustion. We've run a few routine tests but I don't expect anything abnormal."
"She was complaining about a headache earlier, just before fainting." Rosalie slipped in. Well, more like yelled it out in her head so loud that it got through the fog to Edward.
"Probably the congestion and rising temperature." Carlisle explained away easily.
"Thank you." Charlie nodded. "How long before..?"
