The day had finally arrived—Y/N's father was coming home from his long work trip. Y/N's mother had already met Akaashi and absolutely adored him, but her father was a different story. Y/N had warned Akaashi multiple times about her dad's intimidating presence.

"He doesn't talk much, and he looks like he's about to interrogate you, but don't worry. He's actually really kind-hearted. And maybe a bit shy, too," Y/N had reassured Akaashi, although she herself was a little nervous about the upcoming meeting.

Akaashi found himself standing in front of Y/N's house, a basket of fruit in his hands as a polite gift for her parents. He took a deep breath, adjusting his shirt. You've faced tougher challenges, Akaashi. You can do this. It's just meeting the parents... right?

Before he could psych himself out further, the door creaked open, and Y/N greeted him with a bright smile. "Hey, you're here!" She glanced at the fruit basket and giggled. "You didn't have to bring that, but I'm sure my mom's going to love it."

Sure enough, Y/N's mother appeared behind her, her face lighting up when she saw the basket. "Oh, Keiji! You're such a thoughtful young man. Come in, come in!" She gratefully accepted the basket and disappeared into the kitchen.

Y/N led Akaashi to the living room. "Just make yourself comfortable while I help Mom in the kitchen," she said, smiling before disappearing into the hallway.

Akaashi sat down, his eyes wandering around the room. He noticed a few of Y/N's drawings on the walls, which made him smile. She was so talented. Just then, the sound of a throat clearing caught his attention, and he nearly jumped. Standing in the doorway was Y/N's father, looking every bit as intimidating as Y/N had described. He was tall, broad-shouldered, and had an expression that made Akaashi wonder if he was about to be interrogated by a military officer.

"Ah, you must be Keiji," Y/N's father said, stepping into the living room. His voice was deep, and he had the air of someone who didn't waste words. He wasn't smiling, but his eyes held a certain curiosity.

Akaashi stood up immediately and bowed politely. "Yes, sir. It's nice to meet you. I'm Akaashi Keiji."

Y/N's father gave a slight nod, stepping closer. "I see. Y/N talks about you." He paused, letting those words hang in the air for just a moment too long. Then, finally, he extended his hand for a firm handshake. Akaashi shook it, feeling the weight of the situation, but he maintained his calm demeanor.

The silence between them stretched for what felt like an eternity before Y/N's father spoke again. "So... you're the one dating my daughter."

Akaashi nodded, his voice steady. "Yes, sir. I am."

And then the questions began. "What are your intentions? What do you plan to do after school? How long have you known Y/N? How serious are you about this relationship?" The barrage was relentless, but Akaashi handled each question with calm precision. He gave thoughtful, respectful answers, and even when the questions got a little personal, he managed to keep his composure.

As the conversation went on, Y/N's father found himself impressed. This boy is good for my daughter, he thought, though he would never admit it out loud just yet.

Just as the interrogation seemed to be winding down, Y/N called from the kitchen. "Dad! Keiji! Dinner's ready!"

Dinner was a lively affair, mostly thanks to Y/N's mother, who kept the conversation flowing effortlessly. She talked about everything from Y/N's childhood to the latest gossip in the neighborhood, while Y/N and Akaashi occasionally exchanged amused glances. Y/N's father, for the most part, remained quiet, only speaking up to ask Akaashi a few more questions—this time, much less intimidating ones.

After dinner, Akaashi helped clean up, and just as he was finishing up, Y/N's father appeared by his side.

"Keiji, can we talk privately for a moment?" he asked, his tone serious.

Akaashi's stomach dropped slightly, but he nodded. Here we go again, he thought, but he followed Y/N's father outside to the backyard, where the cool night air hit him.

Y/N's father was quiet for a moment, and Akaashi could feel the weight of the silence. Then, Y/N's father spoke, his voice softer than before. "Listen... I don't say this often, but I can tell you're a good guy. Y/N... she's everything to me, you understand?"

Akaashi nodded, listening intently.

"I've watched her grow up, and it feels like just yesterday she was this little girl running around with paint on her hands, and now she's..." His voice cracked slightly, and he cleared his throat. "Well, now she's grown, and it's hard to let go. But I can see she's happy with you. And as long as you make her happy... I'm okay with it."

Akaashi blinked, surprised. He hadn't expected this moment to be so emotional. "Thank you, sir. I promise, I'll take care of her."

Y/N's father gave a small nod, his eyes slightly teary. He quickly wiped at them, trying to maintain his tough exterior. "Good. That's all I wanted to hear."

Is this really happening? Akaashi thought, watching as Y/N's intimidating father tried not to break down in front of him. It was unexpectedly sweet.

Just then, Y/N's voice called from inside the house. "Dad! Keiji! Are you guys okay out there?"

Y/N's father cleared his throat again, regaining his composure. "We're fine!" he called back before turning to Akaashi with a small smile. "Alright, let's head back in before she starts worrying."

As they stepped back inside, Y/N greeted them with a knowing smile. "You two had a nice talk?"

Akaashi exchanged a glance with Y/N's father, who gave him a subtle nod. "Yeah, we did," Akaashi replied, smiling.

The rest of the evening went smoothly, with Y/N's parents continuing to make small talk until it was time for Akaashi to leave. Y/N walked him to the door, a soft smile on her face.

"Thank you for tonight," Akaashi said, his voice warm. "Your family is... wonderful."

Y/N laughed softly. "I'm glad you survived. My dad can be intense sometimes."

Akaashi chuckled, shaking his head. "He's... protective. But that's a good thing."

They stood there for a moment, the cool night air surrounding them. Akaashi reached out, taking Y/N's hand gently in his.

"No matter what happens, we'll get through it together," Akaashi said quietly, his eyes locking with hers.

Y/N nodded, her heart swelling. "Together."

Then, in the soft glow of the porch light, Akaashi leaned down, and their lips met in a gentle kiss—soft and sweet, just like their first. It was a moment that felt right, like everything in the world had aligned just for them.

As they pulled away, Akaashi smiled, brushing a strand of hair from her face. "Goodnight, Y/N."

"Goodnight, Keiji" she whispered back, her heart still racing.

And with one last smile, Akaashi turned and walked down the steps, leaving Y/N standing there, her cheeks flushed and her heart full.
