It was finally the weekend, and Y/N was feeling a bundle of nerves and excitement. Yuki had come over to help her get ready for her day with Akaashi, acting like an overenthusiastic stylist.
Yuki stood in Y/N's room, holding up a dress that was definitely not Y/N's style. "You should wear this! It's cute but also a little revealing. You want to give him something to think about, right?"
Y/N's eyes widened, and she immediately waved her hands. "N-no way! I don't want to give him a heart attack! Or me!"
Yuki sighed dramatically, tossing the dress aside. "You're no fun." She picked out a more modest outfit instead. "Alright, fine. But at least wear something cute. You want to look good, don't you?"
After some debate, Y/N settled on a soft, pastel-colored outfit that was cute but comfortable, a perfect balance for her shy personality. Yuki helped her style her hair into a half-up, half-down look and added a touch of makeup to finish it off.
Y/N stared at herself in the mirror, feeling both nervous and... a little proud. She had to admit, Yuki had done a great job. "I don't look too much, right?" she asked, biting her lip.
Yuki grinned, hands on her hips. "You look perfect. Akaashi's going to lose his mind."
Just then, Y/N's mother poked her head into the room, a playful smile on her face. "Sweetie, Akaashi's here."
Y/N's heart skipped a beat. He's here?! Already?! She shot a panicked look at Yuki, who just grinned and waved her towards the door.
"Go, go! And don't forget to act natural!" Yuki teased, winking.
Y/N made her way downstairs, her heart thudding loudly in her chest. She could already hear her mom and Yuki giggling behind her, and she braced herself for whatever teasing comments were coming her way. As she reached the bottom of the stairs, she saw Akaashi standing at the door, waiting patiently.
He turned to look at her, his expression calm but with a hint of admiration in his eyes. "You look... beautiful," he said softly.
Y/N's face immediately flushed. "Th-thank you..." she stammered, feeling like her heart might burst out of her chest. "Y-you look good too!"
Yuki leaned over to Y/N's mom and whispered, "I think we're witnessing a romance novel in real life."
Y/N's mom chuckled. "I'm so proud."
Trying to ignore the peanut gallery behind her, Y/N stepped outside with Akaashi, feeling a mix of embarrassment and excitement. Once they were outside and away from her house, she let out a small sigh of relief. Okay, just breathe. This is fine. It's just a day out with him... no big deal...
The two made their way into town, the weather pleasantly cool, and the sky clear. They wandered through various shops, ate some snacks, and even took a few pictures together, which made Y/N blush every time. Akaashi was calm and composed, as usual, but she could tell he was enjoying their time together.
They eventually found themselves at the arcade, where Akaashi suggested they play a few games.
Y/N eyed the claw machine suspiciously. "I'm terrible at these. I've never won anything."
Akaashi, ever the composed strategist, gave a small smile. "I'll win something for you."
And he did. Within two tries, Akaashi had expertly grabbed a small stuffed animal from the machine and handed it to Y/N. She was absolutely floored. "H-how did you do that so easily?!"
He shrugged, amused. "You just have to be patient with it."
Y/N hugged the plushie to her chest, feeling her heart flutter again. How is he so perfect?
Everything was going smoothly, and Y/N was beginning to feel more relaxed — until she spotted someone familiar out of the corner of her eye. Her heart sank. Oh no...
It was Eri. And worse, she was walking straight toward them.
Panicking, Y/N immediately ducked behind Akaashi, using him as a shield.
Akaashi blinked, turning slightly to look at her. "What's wrong?" he asked, genuinely confused.
"Eri," Y/N whispered, her voice barely audible. She peeked over his shoulder, hoping to avoid being seen.
Sure enough, Eri and her friends were approaching, laughing and chatting. Eri hadn't noticed Y/N, but she did spot Akaashi. "Oh, Akaashi-kun!" she called out, waving. "I didn't expect to see you here."
Akaashi gave her a polite nod, his face as neutral as ever. "Hello, Eri-san."
"Are you alone?" Eri asked, glancing around, clearly unaware that Y/N was hiding behind him.
Akaashi shook his head. "No, I'm not."
Eri blinked, seemingly caught off guard. "Oh? Well, my friends and I were about to go grab something to eat. Want to join us?"
Y/N's heart stopped for a moment, terrified that Akaashi might say yes. But to her relief, he politely declined. "Thank you, but I'm spending the day with someone else."
Eri looked disappointed but tried to play it off. "Oh, alright. Maybe next time," she said with a forced smile before turning to leave with her friends.
As soon as she was out of sight, Y/N let out a relieved sigh, emerging from behind Akaashi. "Thank goodness..."
Akaashi turned to her, his expression soft. "You don't need to worry about her," he said, his voice calm and reassuring.
Y/N nodded, feeling a little silly for hiding. "I know, but she's been... a bit much lately."
Akaashi paused, then asked gently, "What's been going on with you two? It seems like there's some tension."
Y/N hesitated, unsure of how much to tell him. "It's... complicated. She's just been getting on my nerves lately, that's all."
Akaashi raised an eyebrow, clearly concerned. "Getting on your nerves? How so?"
Y/N took a deep breath, deciding to tell him part of the truth. "She kind of... ruined one of my drawings."
Akaashi's eyes widened slightly. "She did?"
Y/N nodded, her voice quieter. "Yeah, but it's fine. I'll just redo it. Let's not worry about it today, okay? I just want to enjoy our time."
Akaashi looked like he wanted to say more but respected her decision. "Alright, but if she keeps bothering you, let me know."
Y/N gave him a small smile, grateful for his support. "Thanks, Akaashi-san."
"Keiji," he corrected with a smile.
Y/N blinked. "Huh?"
"You can call me Keiji. No need for honorifics," he said, giving her a rare, soft smile that made her heart race again.
Y/N blushed, feeling flustered. "O-okay, K-Keiji."
Akaashi—or rather, Keiji—smiled again, clearly amused by her reaction. "And I'll call you Y/N instead of Y/N-san. How's that?"
Y/N's heart practically melted at the way he said her name. This is too much...
As they continued walking, the tension from earlier faded, and the two of them laughed and talked more freely, dropping all formalities. Though neither of them was ready to confess just yet, it was clear that their feelings were deepening with every passing moment.
