It was a dreary afternoon, and the rain poured heavily against the windows of Fukurodani Academy. Y/N stood by the entrance, gazing at the downpour outside, mentally preparing herself for the inevitable: a long, soggy walk home. She sighed, clutching her umbrella. Why does it always rain on days I have to go home alone?

Just as she was about to step out into the rain, she heard familiar voices behind her. Turning around, she spotted Akaashi and the volleyball team walking down the hallway. Bokuto, Konoha, Komi, Sarukui, and Onaga were all there, looking their usual cheerful selves despite the gloomy weather.

"Y/N-chan!" Bokuto called out with a wide grin, waving energetically. "You heading home too?"

Akaashi noticed her and gave a polite nod. "Y/N-san."

Y/N smiled shyly and nodded back. "Yeah, I am. Don't you guys have practice today?"

Bokuto puffed out his chest dramatically. "Well, we were supposed to, but since it's raining so hard, practice got canceled. So we're free! Woo-hoo!"

The rest of the volleyball team grinned at each other in unison, mischief glinting in their eyes. Y/N blinked, sensing they were plotting something. Before she could ask, Konoha spoke up.

"Oh, by the way, Akaashi forgot his umbrella," Konoha said, nudging Akaashi lightly. "Y/N-chan, you live in the same direction, right? Maybe you could share your umbrella with him?"

Before either Y/N or Akaashi could respond, the volleyball team had already started backing away, grinning like they had just pulled off the prank of the century.

"Have fun, you two!" Komi added with a wink, giving them a playful salute.

"Yeah, stay dry!" Sarukui said, laughing.

The group of boys left them there in the hallway, practically cackling as they disappeared into the rain. Y/N's face flushed with embarrassment, while Akaashi just sighed in mild exasperation, clearly used to their antics.

"They're hopeless," Akaashi muttered, shaking his head. He turned to Y/N and said, "You don't have to share your umbrella with me. I'll be fine."

Y/N's heart was racing, but she protested immediately, gripping her umbrella tighter. "N-no, I don't mind at all! It'd be terrible if you got soaked. Besides... we're going the same way, right?" Her voice was soft but firm.

Akaashi hesitated for a moment before nodding. "Alright, if you're sure."

Just as they were about to step outside, an unexpected interruption appeared. The same girl Y/N had seen talking to Akaashi earlier suddenly approached, an umbrella in hand and a wide smile on her face.

"Oh, Akaashi-kun! I noticed you didn't have an umbrella," she said sweetly, completely oblivious to Y/N's presence. "Why don't we share?"

Y/N felt a jolt of discomfort as she watched the interaction. She called him Akaashi-kun? She clutched her umbrella a little tighter, biting her lip as she tried not to feel too awkward.

Akaashi, ever polite, shook his head. "Thank you, but I'm sharing an umbrella with Y/N-san."

The girl blinked, finally noticing Y/N standing next to Akaashi. Her expression changed for just a second—long enough for Y/N to catch it. She rolled her eyes before quickly smiling again. "Oh. I see. Well, if you change your mind..." She trailed off, offering a half-hearted wave before walking away.

Y/N stood frozen for a moment, her heart pounding. Did she really just roll her eyes at me? She glanced at Akaashi, but he didn't seem to notice. Instead, he simply opened the umbrella, and they stepped out into the rain.

The walk was quiet at first. Y/N found herself hyper-aware of how close they were standing. Akaashi was holding the umbrella high, and the height difference between them was... well, obvious. He's so tall... She could feel the warmth of his arm near hers and tried not to blush.

After a few moments of walking in silence, Y/N gathered the courage to ask, "So, um... who was that girl earlier?"

Akaashi glanced down at her, his expression thoughtful. "Oh, her? She's just another first-year like you. She's been... trying to talk to me a lot lately."

Y/N giggled softly. "You sound so dense when you say it like that."

Akaashi raised an eyebrow, clearly confused. "Dense?"

"Well, it's pretty obvious she's interested in you," Y/N said, though her heart ached a little admitting it. "I mean, she's pretty persistent, right?"

Akaashi hummed, tilting his head slightly. "I suppose so. But I'm not really interested."

Y/N's heart did a little flip at those words, and she couldn't help but smile to herself. He's not interested in her... that's good, right?

The rest of the walk was peaceful, the sound of rain pattering against the umbrella creating a calming rhythm. Before long, they arrived at Y/N's house. She stopped at the gate, hesitating for a moment before turning to Akaashi.

"Here, you can take my umbrella," she said, holding it out to him. "I have plenty more at home, so don't worry about returning it right away."

Akaashi took the umbrella, giving her a small but sincere smile. "Thank you, Y/N-san. I'll make sure to bring it back."

Just as Y/N was about to turn and head inside, Akaashi spoke again, his voice soft. "By the way..."

Y/N froze, her heart pounding in her chest as she looked up at him. "Y-yes?"

Akaashi's eyes met hers, and there was a teasing glint in them. "You know, you don't have to be so nervous around me. I don't bite."

Y/N's face turned beet red. W-what?! She sputtered, her words catching in her throat as she tried to respond. "I—I'm not nervous!"

Akaashi's small smile grew just a little wider. "Sure, Y/N-san. See you tomorrow."

With that, he turned and walked off, leaving Y/N standing at her gate, clutching her face in embarrassment. He totally knows I'm nervous around him!

As she rushed inside, her thoughts were a flurry of emotions. How am I supposed to act normal now?

Meanwhile, Akaashi walked away, a faint smile still playing on his lips as he thought back to the look on Y/N's face. She's cute when she's flustered.
