The day started like any other. Class 1-A was buzzing with excitement over an upcoming hero training exercise, the energy in the room almost tangible as students chatted about strategies and theories. You were seated near the back of the room, quietly going over your notes from the last session with Shoto. His request for help with mastering his fire had opened up new challenges for both of you, but working together felt... natural. Things were finally starting to feel right between you and Shoto, even if the balance was fragile.
Aizawa-sensei, as usual, entered the classroom with his ever-calm demeanor, silencing the chatter immediately. The class shifted their attention, waiting for instructions about the day's exercise.
"Today's training will be held off-campus," Aizawa said, eyes scanning the room. "You'll be tested in a real-world environment. Stay sharp, and expect the unexpected."
You exchanged a glance with Shoto, who gave a small nod. The intensity of training had been ramping up lately, pushing you all to the brink, but the idea of facing real-world scenarios felt more daunting than usual. Still, you had learned to trust your instincts—and Shoto had become a steady presence, one you relied on more than you cared to admit.
As the class geared up and made their way to the bus, the usual excitement was tinged with a sense of anticipation. Something in the air felt different today—heavier, almost. You tried to shake the feeling off, convincing yourself it was just nerves.
The bus ride to the designated location was filled with the usual chatter. Bakugo and Kirishima were having a loud debate about who could take down more villains in a crisis situation, while Midoriya muttered to himself, likely planning out strategies in his head. You sat beside Shoto, the two of you quietly watching the passing cityscape, lost in your own thoughts.
When the bus finally pulled up to the site—a mock city built for disaster and rescue training—everyone filed out, ready to dive into the exercise. Aizawa-sensei gave a final rundown of the day's objectives before sending the class into their assigned zones.
"Stay in your groups and keep communication open," Aizawa reminded, his voice firm. "This is about rescue, not just combat. Be smart."
You paired up with Shoto, as had become routine lately, your abilities complementing each other's strengths. The plan was simple: search the designated buildings, rescue any civilians, and neutralize any threats that might appear.
But just as you were about to enter the first building, a chill swept through the air.
It happened so fast that at first, you weren't sure what was going on. The ground trembled beneath your feet, and the distant sound of shattering glass echoed through the air. A sense of wrongness crept up your spine.
Then the alarms blared.
"Villains have breached the perimeter!" Aizawa's voice came over the intercom, sharp and urgent. "All students, regroup immediately! This is not a drill!"
Your heart pounded in your chest as the realization hit—this wasn't part of the training. Real villains had infiltrated the site.
