XXIX. What a mess.

. . . . .

"Aiden you damned prick! Get back here!!"

. . . I do actually wonder how I got myself stuck in this situation.

It's chaotic in here.

"Ms. Viviana say 'ah'. . ." A calm voice broke through the noise.

Mira Loma approached me, her hand steadying a gleaming spoon that caught the light with every subtle movement.

She was the doctor assigned to care for me.

With a hesitant breath, I weakly opened my mouth as she guided the spoon inside, making me drink whatever it was.

Medicine, perhaps?

The taste was awful.

"There. . ." She murmured softly, a kind smile breaking through her professional demeanor.

The liquid was strange and bitter, coating my throat in an unpleasant way. 'Must be because of my fever or it just taste like that— like garbage. Eugh.'

I grimaced as I swallowed, the thick syrup clinging stubbornly to my throat.

This was precisely why I hated taking medicine, especially in syrup form rather than capsules.

Capsules slid down easily, no fuss.

But this?

Eugh. . . Terrible.

"Mira. . ."  I began, my voice hoarse and barely above a whisper. Speaking felt strange. Each word a small effort. My tone was low and soft, almost fragile.

She leaned in closer, her expression attentive and patient. "Yes, Ms. Viviana? What is it?"

"Kick those fools out." I managed to say, irritation lacing my words. "They're adding to my headache and my head is wringing because of them."

My eyes landed on the familiar ginger head of the devil's assistant— Aiden.

He was attempting a handstand on top of the damn table, his limbs flailing wildly as if he were trying to defy gravity itself.

"Seriously?" I muttered under my breath, disbelief mingling with annoyance.

Across the room, two others whom I assumed were Laxei and Mikhail. They sat at a small table, playing cards. The black-haired one furrowed his brow in deep concentration, contemplating his next move, while the brown-haired one leaned back casually, a smirk playing on his lips as he shuffled the deck with practiced ease.

Then there was Lev, casually glaring at Aiden, as he should.

'What kind of nonsense is this. . . Ugh.' I cursed internally.

"Mira. . . Make them stop or I'll snap their head off." I warned, my voice low and sharp.

She flinched for a moment at my casual threat but nodded obediently. "Boys! Come here. Ms. Viviana is awake now and she wants to talk with all of you."

"Wait— that's not what I— Ugh. . . Nevermind." My words trailed off.

I only asked her to kick them out, not to have them yap in front of me. And I made sure to emphasize how annoying their voices were, yet she still called them over? Ughhhh!

They all turned to look in my direction, and in that moment, Aiden lost his balance and fell from the table with a loud thud.

He landed awkwardly, limbs sprawled in an ungraceful heap on the floor.
