The following weeks were filled with training, training and even more training. Push-up's, long jogs, everything to make Team Tanjiro's bodies stronger. It had been around 4 months since the Mugen Train incident and everyone had recovered quite well. Except for Kyojuro. He was now graced with quite the stylish blindfold, courtesy of the sound pillar, Tengen Uzui. It had been send to him together with a silly get well soon card, including an apology from Tengen, saying he'd come visit him once he had time. Y/N had been training as well, her body even more lean that it was before, strong muscles adorning her form. Tanjiro had received a mission about a demon hiding in a temple north-west of the estate, and as always, the adeptus joined him. The sky was dark, filled with grey, gloomy clouds. It would rain soon. Following the path up a nearby mountain, the woman soon felt the first raindrops hit her skin. The rain was cold, but in a pleasant way. Trailing after Tanjiro, Y/N's golden eyes scanned the area, wary of any threats or nearby enemies. The rain picked up and soon, the siblings reached the abandoned temple.

„I'll walk in first."

Y/N declared, slowly entering the wooden structure. It smelled like moss and rotten wood, but at least the rain wouldn't soak them here. Looking around, she noticed the lingering presence of a demon nearby.

„Y/N watch out!"

Tanjiro's voice yelled from behind. Y/N rolled aside, evading the demon's attack. The beast turned to Tanjiro, dashing towards him.

„Watch out! Don't let him escape! Theres a village nearby!"

Y/N shouted. Of course, she could kill the demon. But she would only resort to it if she had to. Her and Tanjiro had a conversation earlier this week. The two had talked about future encounters with upper moons. And Tanjiro had made the wish that Y/N let him try and kill the demons alone before she stepped in. He wanted to get stronger, he had to. And Y/N, if not instantly, had complied. She understood the way he felt, and it would only be natural of her as an older sister to respect his wishes. Tanjiro had told her to see it as a personal training of some sort.
With a stern gaze, she followed Tanjiro's movements. And just as she was about to interfere, when the demon wanted to attack Tanjiro from behind, Nezuko's leg shot out of the cage, slamming into the demons chest. Y/N let out a relieved sigh. After a while, Tanjiro had cornered the demon in a small room, looking at him with eyes filled with empathy.

„Please forgive me for what I'm about to do."

The demon only yelled at him to shut up, getting up to attack the boy but was quickly beheaded by his sword.

„Good job, Tanjiro."

Y/N smiled, brushing some dust off his shoulder.

„Now let's get back to the butterfly estate. We're both soaked by the rain. I don't want you to catch a cold, okay?"

She pulled out a cloth to wipe his cheek, patting Nezuko's head.

„You too, Nezuko. Good job."

A sweet smile pulled at her lips. She wished she could introduce these two to the other Yaksha, or maybe Morax. They would surely be adored by them. Falling into a light step next to her little brother, Y/N's thoughts drifted towards the other demon slayers. Towards Zenitsu and Inosuke. She had gotten quite close with them as well, but she had never really inquired about their past. She'd have to ask them some time. Zenitsu was, of course, a woman-crazy coward, yet he was charming in his own way. Maybe. Slightly. Inosuke on the other hand, he was a slightly battle-crazed maniac. But he was her slightly battle-crazed maniac. Y/N almost felt like she had adopted the four. In her long life, she had never wanted kids. Or at least never had the time to think about it enough to decide. The sun had begun to rise over the horizon and soon, day arrived again. The sun shone, making the leftover raindrops on the leaves break the light, shimmering like little crystals.
