CHAPTER 1: MEETING THE DEVIL

HAVEN'S POV

I kept my mouth shut even though I wanted to do the opposite of that. For a person who has had a lot to say for most of her life and who never balks from speaking out her mind, it wasn't an easy thing to do. But there's nothing I could do because for one, I needed the job. And second, there's the fact that I can't deny that I really made a mistake.

"Not a single shift goes by without you creating a problem! You keep messing up orders and you break things every single fucking day. At this rate, I'm going to be bankrupt before the year ends!"

My employer, Edwin Royo's gaze, traveled down my body, and it took everything I had not to show my disgust. He's probably older than my own father, but the way he's looking at me is far from fatherly.

"Not everything can be solved by beauty alone, Haven . Sable has a lot of pretty faces, and you're just one of them." He rubbed his chin, giving me another look that makes me want to take a shower immediately. "Unless you can offer more than what they're offering."

I swallowed the vile forming in my throat. "I-It wouldn't happen again, Mr. Royo. Please... just take the damages from my salary."

His face pinched with irritation. "Do you really think your salary can cover for all the damages you've made?" He tips his chin towards the door. "Go and earn what I'm paying you for. And stay away from the VIP section."

I hurriedly stood up and rushed out of the room. I ignored the looks I'm getting from the other Sable employees who are waiting in line outside the office to be called by Mr. Royo. I walked past them, knowing that unlike me who left the room like I'd been chased by monsters, they will surely come out of the office giggling as if they're best friends with the boss.

I may not know a lot, but that doesn't mean I'm stupid. I know that there's more to Sable than just being a gentleman's club that offers drinks and entertainment while being served by waitresses in short, tight skirts.

Prostitution is illegal in the Philippines, but that doesn't mean that there aren't ways for them to go under the law. Just like when obviously rich customers have an unusually high bill when they don't even drink a lot and then leave the place with one or more women in tow.

I also know that my employer is not above from trying out what he sells... and when I say that, I don't just mean the alcohol.

He's been trying to get more out of me than just the position of being a waitress. From the very start, he had already hinted that he wanted me to be one of the entertainers. Either a dancer or an entertainer who will keep the customers company while they drink. The pay is better, but I was firm on just serving drinks.

When I started messing up in the job, he kept calling me to his office instead of just deducting it from my salary like he did with the other servers. This is not the first time that he hinted that he wanted more from me.
