It Begins

This chapter, by far is the most gruesome and strange. It gets less weird, I promise you; however, I'm setting the grounds for this book.

Be warned I haven't edited this chapter and I wrote it 2 years ago, so there will be plenty of grammatical and spelling mistakes!!
I also know much about wolf lore; however, a very rude commenter informed me that I was not explicitly clear in how I labeled the two species.

In this book, Nova sometimes refers to werewolves or a werewolf as a wolves/wolf. She is not talking about Gray wolves (Canis Lupus). She is generally referring to werewolves (which are not called werewolves in this book).
Yes this chapter features "supposed" incest!! Read on to find out wtf is going on!!!

The two wolves lunged at each other, their snarls further pumping up the crowd that had gathered to watch. The smaller of the two, a molted brown and grey male snapped his teeth viciously before anchoring his jaw around the grey-and-white male who snarled angrily and in turn dug his teeth into his opponents shoulder. The brown wolf tore vehemently at the ear in his mouth, shredding it like a dog would a newspaper.

The crowd jeered approvingly, and Nova couldn't help but also get engulfed by the low thrum of energy transferring through the group. Her eyes flickered to the brunette woman laying on the ground with her eyes anxiously zeroed in on the fight. Nova felt bad for her. This fight had obviously been caused by two males vying for the right to breed her as a mate. Nova rolled her eyes when a light smirk played on the corner of the girl's mouth as the brown wolf tore back, taking half of the grey wolf's ear with him and spitting it on the ground.

The brown wolf raised his head and made eye contact with the female, his tail raising boastfully. Nova narrowed her eyes when the grey wolf took the brown wolf's unfocused state to his advantage. He launched himself at his foe's unprotected throat, his teeth sinking deep in to the fur and flesh.

The wolf let out a strangled choking sound and the tension within the crowd intensified to the point where Nova almost felt like choking along with the wolf. The brown wolf frantically clawed at his opponent, his foreleg slamming into the grey wolf's throat in an attempt to gag him. But the grey wolf was much to experienced for that and maneuvered himself so that he was standing over the brown wolf's body, his jaws tightening on the neck. They held this position until the brown wolf admitted his defeat with a low, strangled whine and his tail tucking firmly between his legs.

Low, disapproving murmurs circulated throughout the gathering of onlookers. Nova huffed and crossed her arms, they were obviously expecting a little more blood shed. And Nova couldn't help but feel maybe she had been expecting more too.

Upon acknowledging the loser's defeat, he disengaged himself and automatically sauntered over to claim his prize: the pretty brunette who had been watching the fight closely. Nova watched as he shoved his wolfy snout into her groin and could practically hear his deep inhale. God, could they be any more obvious? She rolled her eyes and broke away from the crowd, uninterested in seeing the two practically mate right in front of them.

She sauntered along the path leading up to the cluster of homes that housed most of the wolves in this territory. The suburb had been newly built for the pack, which was a huge upgrade from the run down hotel in the countryside they had been inhabiting before. The close proximity of males together had resulted in more fights than Nova could count. One wrong look could send a male unconscious to the lobby floor. It had been a dangerous and unstable time for everyone. It had come as a surprise when the most dominant members of the pack had told everyone that they had found a suitable place for us to live where everyone would have their space and the testosterone hanging in the air would no longer be thick enough to cut with a butter knife.
