VIII. Party.
. . . . .
Today is the day.
This is the time I will be recognized as the heir.
I slipped into a red, fitted, off-the-shoulder bodycon dress. Red dresses are versatile, striking, and perfect for a variety of occasions. 'One can never go wrong with a red dress. . .' I reassured myself internally, confident in the color's timeless charm.
After all, my goal was clear.
It was to leave a lasting impression on everyone.
Tonight, I was the star of the party, and that would remain unchallenged.
My hair was styled in a low updo, an elegant twist that framed my face perfectly and complemented the off-the-shoulder neckline of the dress. The sophistication of the style added a regal touch, allowing my features to shine without distraction.
A pair of red high heels elevated my stature, adding confidence to my stride and completing the ensemble with grace.
Around my neck, a delicate pearl necklace gleamed softly, its classic elegance providing a beautiful contrast to the vibrant red fabric. I chose a few carefully selected accessories. Delicate earrings and a simple bracelet that added just the right amount of sparkle without overwhelming the look.
My makeup was simple yet effective, designed to enhance rather than overshadow. Bold red lips made a striking statement, perfectly matching my dress. Smoky eyes and winged eyeliner added drama and depth to my gaze, while a touch of blush softened my features, giving me a fresh and radiant appearance.
I wasn't certain if I had done a good job, but I believed it turned out pretty well. After all, it wasn't my first time doing my own makeup.
Standing before the mirror, I took a long look at my tall, curvaceous figure.
For two hours, I had been here, nervously scrutinizing every detail, adjusting this, smoothing that, making sure everything was perfect.
To make an impression, I had to embody the part.
"Miss Lucrezia?"
Knock knock.
A soft knock interrupted my thoughts.
Franklin's calm voice drifted from behind the door.
"Yeah??" I called back, trying to steady my nerves.
"You have to go to the halls now, your father is waiting for you. The event will start anytime soon, young miss."
I swallowed hard, taking a nervous gulp as I stole one last glance at the mirror. I reassured myself silently that I looked presentable, poised to face the eyes of others.
"Okay!" I exclaimed, hastening to open the door.
Franklin offered me a warm, encouraging smile as I stepped out, then he disappeared to manage the staff preparing for the night.
I took measured, deliberate steps down the corridor, each footfall echoing softly on the polished floors. I kept reminding myself to maintain composure with every move.
'Calm down, Lucrezia. . . You got this.' I chanted in my head repeatedly, trying to drown out the flutter of nerves.
This was my first encounter with rival factions, and projecting an air of unwavering confidence was essential.
There was no room for doubt or hesitation tonight.
After a deep, prolonged breath, I felt my body settle into a state of calm readiness.
