"That's an urgent mission alert. We have to get to the lab," their father explained. Just as soon as the last word left his mouth, Adam, Bree, and Leo were running to the elevator.
"Hello? A little help?" Chase called after the four as Donald followed them out. He sighed, realizing he was all alone and had to make the trek himself. He began hopping forward, confident in his abilities. After all, he was a bionic hero-
"GAH!" he yelled as his ankle rolled, causing his body to collapse to the floor. Thankfully, the fall had loosened his restraints. Slowly but surely, he wriggled in his spot on the floor, freeing himself on his own.

BEN drove in silence, the only sounds in the car being the anxious tapping of his fingers on the steering wheel and his uneven breaths. Every so often, his eyes would flit over to Niche in his passenger seat. She sat perfectly still, eyes staring straight ahead at the road. Even her breathing he couldn't hear. He would've thought she had died peacefully in her spot if not for the gentle rise and fall of her chest.
"You had to ruin my family a second time," he finally spoke up, gritting his teeth.
"Ruin your family? How could you possibly blame me for what happened?" Niche spoke. Her words projected a feeling of incredulousness, but her tone was even.
"She told me," Ben spoke, his voice beginning to shake. "How could you train him?"
"Nick -"
"It's Ben," he spoke sharply.
"Ben. Ben. Fine, Ben. You have to understand that Asphoden wasn't a villain when I met him. He didn't have dreams to kill. I didn't know that one day, he would use the skills I taught him to become what he did."
"But he did. And he killed her, and you're the reason it happened," Ben spoke unrelentingly. "And your ambition is going to kill Elena, too."
Niche shuffled in her seat, sitting taller. "My so-called ambition saved her. I never convinced her to be a hero, Ben. She was going to do it with or without my help. I only gave her a safer way to become the person she was always going to be."
"The safer way?" Ben scoffed. "That's rich coming from the woman who thinks she's in danger as we speak."
"Danger is going to follow her wherever she goes, Ben. It's inevitable. She'd be dead by now if not for everything I've done to help her," Niche insisted, watching as he drove the car up a driveway to a luxurious and modern house.
"Do you want a thank you?" the man questioned sharply as he abruptly stopped the car, putting it in park.
Niche jolted at the sudden halt in motion, turning to see the fire that lit Ben's eyes. She paused, meeting them with an equal fire behind hers. "I just want what's best for her."
"Then let her father figure that out," Ben snipped as he swung the door open, exiting the car and approaching the front door of the mansion they had arrived at.

"THE alert is coming from Facility X, my research center in the frozen tundra," Mr. Davenport announced to all of his kids as the elevator opened to the lab, allowing them to all walk in.
"Uh, mission leader here. I'll handle this," Leo spoke up, turning to Adam, Bree, and Chase. "The alert is coming from Facility X, his research center in the frozen tundra."
Donald and Chase both rolled their eyes, while Bree just looked bored as ever. Adam, however, seemed plenty intrigued by this news.
"Wait. The tundra's near the North Pole," he thought aloud, then gasped, "Santa needs our help! You wrap, you tape, I'll go hang with the elves!"
