"Honestly Hisane, you're the stain of the royal family" Rinzen spoke as her young daughter stood at her door having tried to ask her to feed the turtle ducks with her in the same manner that ursa did with zuko
"Huh?" The child blinked
"I just wish.." Rinzen continued as her voice became horse "I wish I'd never given birth to you"
Those were words the child had come to the conclusion were at the tip of her mothers toung for years, but that didn't make hearing them any less painful
Her mother was a beautiful woman who seemed to love and adore her family, save for her second born
But for a child to fully give up on trying to win their parents affection required an excessive amount of neglect and emotional unavailability that for some reason, Hisanes little mind had thought she'd been yet to experience. So she continued to try.
So when Hisane had watched her aunt and cousin play with the turtle sucks, she too longed for that bond with her mother, especially seeing as they were the only two in their family left behind
But when she tried to ask her mother to join her, that was the response she received
"I'm sorry to hear about what happened hisa" Azula spoke as she walked up to her cousin
"..what?" Hisane blinked, the nine year old azula seemingly being in deep thought before she outstretched her arms
"Here." She spoke "I know people say hugs help. I'm good at everything so I'm positive my hugs will bring you much comfort" she nodded
"Azula, what are you talking about? What's going on?" Hisanes brows furrowed as she felt like all the servants passing were looking at her and whispering
"About Lu ten?" Azula blinked before ursa called out her name, rushing over and grabbing her
"We will not speak of it to her until aunty Rinzen has told her." Ursa frowned
"I thought she already has! I was being nice!" Azula frowned
"Aunty what's going on??" Hisane asked in a more panicked tone as it's expression softened
"Hisa, it's best if you go to your mothers room and ask her, I'm sure she's waiting for you there" Ursa smiled as she held onto Hisanes hand and led her inside, stopping and allowing her to enter her mothers room on her own
"Mother..what's going— on..". She began, her movement halting after she opened the door excepting to find her mother at her desk or in her bed
But no
She was hanging from the ceiling, lifeless. Her last tears staining her face
In that moment, not even a squeak could be heard from hisane as she stared at her mothers body, her wide eyes slowly meeting the floor where two notes lay
