The crackling of fire filled the silence as the light flickered against the trees before disappearing into darkness. The air had a bite to it as it weaved through the woods creating unpredictable pathways.

Looking into this scene you would have assumed the fire had been abandoned. The owner moving on without a care for how the fire could grow into something uncontrollable. That is until a shadow shifted. Announcing their presence to the world simply by existing in the dark.

The figure remained still, only shifting whenever a muscle started to ache. Eyes glued to the fire. A bottle of water on stand by. The idea that going back and finding a hotel was becoming harder to dislike but the weight of her pocket, or better yet the lack of, was enough to prevent any action. The wildlife and fire would have to do.

Although investing in a pillow would be a good idea.

The figure, none other than a teenage girl, made a mental note to buy a pillow or maybe a cheap shirt she could stuff with leaves. All while staring the fire down.

She never admitted it to anyone but she used to despise fire. Hating how it seemed to snap and snarl at anything that dared to cross it. Not afraid to burn the creator or destroy entire cities if one was not careful enough. However after the first few cold nights and the discomfort of sleeping on the damp forest floor she couldn't hate it as much as she once did. Of course she still didn't trust it, que the water bottle ready for its heroic moment if needed. Yet she hoped it would not come to that. Getting more water was more of a hassle then it was worth but she wouldn't hesitate if even the smallest of embers moved wrong.

She wouldn't sleep either. Not until the fire had died down on its own. So there she sat in the dark. With nothing but the fire dancing innocently as she watched like a hawk.

That wouldn't last long though as even though she said she wouldn't, sleep would eventually catch its prey.

------------------------------------------------------------------

Sunbeams broke through the canopy of leaves. Leaving kisses of light on the forest floor. The fire had died to nothing but ashes as the morning dew erased any traces that there was once a thriving source of destruction.

The girl stirred as the dew began to seep through her clothes. She wanted to hold onto the comfort of sleep for a little longer but she knew it was useless. Once awake she would not sleep again. Not until the next night. The sun was rising and she was wasting daylight but she didn't care as she slowly got ready to continue her journey. Where was she going? That was a really good question that she would honestly pay a lot of money for an answer to. Alas no one could answer a question that no one but she asked. So she wondered and wandered. Hopping from village to village with nothing but her bag and the feeling of being needed for something greater. Although she decided that the second one was just her being delusional. She believed in destiny but doubted a farm girl who didn't farm was much use to the world. Destiny had many other choices for far greater things.

She couldn't complain though, she chose this path and was willing to walk it till she died if it proved to her father that she wasn't a quitter. That image of her dying out of pettiness brought a smile to her face as she walked. Still no clue where she was or where she was going. Who knew that destiny was not as blind as she believed. Giggling at the girl's ignorance, destiny could not wait for what was in store for the future. Sitting back with a bowl of popcorn and getting comfortable. Awaiting the show.
