Bey Pov

I walked into the corner store at night mainly because I was really hungry and wanted a snack. It's not good to be out around this time but I'll take my chances.

I grabbed a few items and went to the check out. This place was near all the gangs and shit and at night it was like war zone.

Let's hope I get back home safely.

I heard the bell go off meaning someone else had entered the store.

"Wassup Mr. Diaz!" I heard a smooth accented voice say from behind me.

The man that was ringing up my stuff smiled and waved back. "Nice to see ya' Meg. What you been out here doing?" He asked. I wish he would hurry up.

"Runnin' in the streets and shit. You know how I get out hea'." Interesting.

"Hows ya mom doin'? You still ain't put me on with her yet."

"Ight now Diaz...chill out. She's fine and I told you she ain't want you." Damn.

"She'll want me one day Megan. You gotta believe in me."

"Mhm I believe she don't want you." She definitely had some jokes on her but I would like to get home.

He finally finished ringing up my stuff and gave me a total. "That'll be $13.67." I went in my purse and pulled out a twenty but as I was pulling it out it fell from my hands and floated across the floor.

"Shit my bad hold on." I told him.

I turned around to go look for it but I jumped when I seen a tall brown skinned woman, with curly hair, holding my twenty out to me.

"You dropped this pretty lady." She said. I shyly grabbed it from her "thank you..".

I was about to put it up on the counter but she gave him money before me. I furrowed my eyebrows in confusion looking over at her. "Why did you do that?" I questioned.

I was gonna pay.

"A pretty lady like you shouldn't pay for anything." I blushed and looked away.

"You still didn't have too..." I replied back.

"Megan don't be scaring my customers." The man said.

"Hush up don't you see me working my charm right now?" I'm assuming Megan said.

He handed me my bag of stuff and I thanked him. "Thanks for paying even though you didn't have to." I told the woman.

"You walkin' by yourself?" She questioned.

"Mhm." I hummed.

"At this time a night? Let me walk you home." I shook my head at the offer "I appreciate the offer but I'll be ok."

"I wasn't offering. It's too late for you to be walking home alone." I sighed in defeat.

"Ok..." I said lowly.

"Cya later Mr. Diaz!" Megan shouted while I walked out.

"Wait up baby!" I slowed down and let her catch up.

She looked over at me and furrowed her eyebrows. She gently grabbed my arm and made us switch spots on the sidewalk. Making me walk on side farthest from the street while she walked on the side that was closest.

"Why did you do that?" I said confused.

"You don't know the sidewalk rule?" Sidewalk rule? I thought you just walk on it.

"Rule? What rule?" I said confused.

"When walking on the sidewalk the woman is suppose to walk on the inner part of the sidewalk while there "man" walks on the outer part." She said and I scrunched my face up in confusion.
