Reaching out of your duvet cocoon, you grabbed your phone, clicked on instagram and looked at your ex boyfriends new post. On your screen was a picture of him posing with his girlfriend, beautiful and proud, a smug look plastered onto his stupid face. Despite everything happening over a month ago, the wounds still felt fresh and your mental health was still suffering from the whole ordeal. He betrayed you and threw three years of your life down the drain for her...

They can both rot.

You think angrily, a mix of anger, betrayal, and simple tiredness fuelling your foul mood.

With judgement, you looked at the picture. Her face. Her body. The anger, resentment, jealousy and heartbreak never really went away since you found out what they did and even all the positive memories you had together were clouded with hindsight. For some reason though, no matter how often you blocked or unfollowed them both, you always found yourself unblocking them and scrolling through their photos together, going back to that night in your mind, thinking about them both together. It hurt but you couldn't stop.

Sighing, you put your phone face down on your nightstand and turned over in your bed, bringing the covers up to your chin and curling into a ball. Just as your mind began to wonder about whether he treats her the same way he treated you, your phone buzzed again, this time with an incoming call. You quickly sat up and sniffed then cleared your throat.

"Good morning Y/N!" It was your agent, Vincent.

You were a freelance video producer working with all sorts of companies and for lots of different types of media from adverts to movies to music videos. Your job was to organise the whole thing and oversee it all come together, working closely with the director to produce exactly what they want. Vincent's job was to find projects that needed a producer and recommend them to you as well as in general managing your resume, reputation, and work load.

"Morning Vincent. Bit early isn't it?" You asked, wiping your eyes.

"It's 11:30. Have you only just woken up?" Vincent asked with concern. He was a stern man, exactly the kind of man you needed to keep you motivated and focused. If it was left to you right now, you'd probably be out of work for as long as possible until you really needed it, then struggle to find something you were interested in. Vincent was an integral part of your job and his strict attitude was essential. While your best interest was always in his mind, your relationship was strictly professional. The combination of you never opening up to anyone and Vincent's professionalism made it so you never spoke about personal matters.

"Ah, No! I just uh wasn't expecting you too call until this afternoon." You whipped the covers off of you and got out of bed, your feet touching the cold hardwood floor of your bedroom, one pant leg rolled up and your hair a mess.

"Okay then. I have a project for you that I think you're going to be very very interested in. Can you meet me in half an hour to discuss over lunch?"

"Half an hour?! Uh yes of course no worries, the usual place?" Holding the phone up with your shoulder you began scrambling about your room, getting your clothes out, taking off your pyjamas and starting to get ready. Usually, you were professional, stony, you'd created a rock hard impenetrable persona in order to gain the respect of your coworkers and peers in what's normally a very male dominated field. It wasn't very often you let that persona slip.

"The usual place. See you then." Vincent was too busy for proper goodbyes.

Within an hour you managed to make yourself look presentable and professional, wearing a pair of black cropped trousers, a white short sleeve blouse and a burgundy knitted vest, opting for business casual every workday to maintain a certain professionalism needed to gain respect. You brushed your teeth, sorted the rest of your appearance and made your bed and left with fifteen minutes to walk there. It'd only take ten but you much preferred being slightly early to being slightly late. Besides, Vincent was almost always there ahead of you so he can bring up any relevant notes on his laptop ready for your arrival.
