Berkley Roberts paced around her living room trying to decide if she should apply for this job.  Of course she should she realized thinking back to a few months ago.  Just a few months ago she had been terrorized and the one person she thought she could turn to, turned on her too.  She sunk down into the couch and recalled that night and the fear that had been instilled in her by Pete, a friend of the her poor excuse for a boyfriend.  She still got cold chills just thinking about it.  She still suffered from depression and nightmares.

                                                                                                        ...

She thought of the night when Pete the creepy friend ofher boyfriend finally managed to catch her alone and off guard.  He shoved her onto the bed then flipped her violently onto her back and when he started forcing himself on her.  She couldn't fight him off.  He kept telling her to look at him.  He wanted her to look at him while he violated her body and mind.  It was sick.  She realized she couldn't stop him and she screamed as loud as she could.  But Pete covered her mouth with his leaving her with no choice but to bite his lip.  B.J. ran up to their room and thwarted Pete's efforts as he pulled him off of her.  After Pete was exhausted and beaten badly B.J. threw him out forever.  B.J. returned to her.

"Did he-?" B.J.'s unspoken words hung in the silence.

"No."  She whimpered still shaken but relieved that B. J. made it to her  before Pete could harm her physically.

"You should have stayed downstairs." His tone was confusing.  She reached for him expecting him to console her, to care but instead he yelled and screamed and worked himself up into a rage.  That was the first time he slapped her but far from the last.  It was not the physical pain that stunned her.  How could he betray her at a moment when she needed him the most?  He was angry with Pete but yet he blamed her for what happened.  She panicked and reached for her cell to call Garrett but BJ quickly knocked it out her hand.  He yelled at her and insulted her in every possible way imaginable as he forced her into the shower making her scrub her skin until it was raw.  She would never be clean again not in his eyes.  She was ruined.  He said no one would ever want her and she should thank him for putting up with her.  He had his way with her and when he was finished he tossed her off the bed into the floor as if she were nothing.  She recalled the pain piercing through her skull as her head collided into the night stand just before she blacked out.  She woke up the next morning still on the floor broken and all alone.
