"Y'all wanna head down to the bar tonight?" Lloyd bellowed, looking around the bunkhouse.
Elisabeth shifted in her bunk, sliding her engagement ring off of her finger and attaching it to the thin chain that hung around her neck.
She was planning to get drunk and didn't trust herself not to be careless with her ring, so slinging it on her necklace seemed like the best bet.
The wranglers all nodded in agreement at Lloyd's holler, coming to the unanimous decision to go out.
Lloyd gave a simple nod and waved his arm.
"'Ight, sort out who's ridin' with who and we'll head out."
And they did just that.
Rip took Lloyd, Jake and Ethan.
Ryan took Elisabeth, Beau and Walker.
Colby and Teeter rode together, just the two of them.
After Elisabeth placed herself in the backseat next to Walker and buckled up, Ryan began the drive.
After a few minutes of silence, Walker spoke up softly.
"Why aren't you wearing your ring?" He murmured to her.
She took her chain out of her shirt, showcasing the ring that dangled on it.
"On your finger." He specified.
Ryan gave Walker a brief glance through the mirror with a furrowed brow, surprised at the male's harsh reaction.
"I ain't drivin'. So I'm gonna get shitfaced. I don't trust myself not to misplace it so I put it on my necklace." Elisabeth explained.
Walker scoffed softly and lowered his voice.
"Or is it because he's here?" He hissed through clenched teeth, obviously referring to Beau.
Elisabeth gave Walker a look.
"I always wear my ring. Always. Doesn't matter who's around or who I'm with. I only take it off and wear it on my necklace when I'm working. And now because I know you'll raise even more hell if I misplace it or lose it."
Walker seemed slightly taken aback by her sharp tone, while Ryan discreetly nodded in approval from the driver's seat.
Beau clenched his jaw, secretly hating the fact that he'd become a source of fights in Elisabeth and Walker's relationship.
He knew that it was warranted though.
Yes, deep down he still wanted her.
And yes, he'd always love her and have a soft spot for her.
But from what he'd just heard and what Elisabeth had told him, he wasn't fond of the way Walker had been talking to her or treating her.
"We're here." Ryan spoke up, backing into a parking space.
Elisabeth immediately perked up as Ryan parked the truck.
She stepped out onto the gravel, trailing behind Ryan as they walked into the bar.
Walker split off with Jake and Ethan to go play pool, while Elisabeth sat up at the bar with Beau and her cousin.
And there the drinking began.
Shot after shot.
Beer after beer.
Till the stool beneath Elisabeth became numb to her body's senses.
"I'm gonna go to the bathroom." She mumbled, staggering out of her seat.
"I gotta piss like a fuckin' racehorse."
