Sophie ran through every curse word in her brain when Keefe whipped off his shirt in one motion, like he was a freaking TV show character or something, and then she ran through all of those words again because she was so sick of Biana being right.
Sophie only had two options: stare for an awkwardly long time, or look pointedly away. Unfortunately, neither of those options were particularly normal things to do, but Sophie's brain was very annoying about being normal around this boy. Maybe forcing him to take her on a road trip was a bad idea.
She chose looking pointedly away as she reached for the hem of the dress she'd thrown on over her bathing suit, trying to pull it off in the same smooth, fluid motion with which Keefe had removed his shirt. She still heard Biana's voice echoing in her head, telling him to level the playing field. Let him decide whether he should stare or look away.
Assuming he was attracted to her. Which she shouldn't care about, but in this moment, well, she kind of did.

Keefe had only a few seconds to enjoy watching Sophie's eyes widen at his natural good looks (which he was, of course, well aware of) before she went and made him equally as speechless.
Sophie needed to stop being hot before he ruined his own reputation. Stay collected. Be smooth.
Say something and say it like your mouth isn't dry. "So..." Quicker, before she realizes you're staring at her. "Are you more of a 'jump in and acclimatize' sort of person, or a 'dip your toe in and slowly wade into the water' kind of person?"
Well, at least he'd said something.
Sophie smirked—it was his smirk too, he recognized it from the mirror, and he was suddenly struck by the sense that he had finally met his match. However, he definitely noticed the way her cheeks flushed slightly when she looked over at him, and decided to count it as a win. "Only a coward wouldn't jump in first."
Keefe smirked back. It was his signature look and he was taking it back. "Then should you go first or should I?"
"Wrong question." And without warning, in one swift motion, Sophie Foster pulling him towards her by one of his arms, turned him towards the deep end of the pool, and pushed him in.
He barely had time to react before he hit the water.
When Keefe resurfaced, Sophie was also submerged in the water, resting against one of the sides of the pool and giggling. "What was that for?!" he asked indignantly, not even caring that he was letting her win. He let her win again when he registered just how sexy she looked when she was all triumphant.
And she definitely looked triumphant.
He kind of wanted to kiss her, and if she had been someone else, maybe he would have. But something about her made him want to be careful, to take everything slowly and see where things went. If they went anywhere.
"Now you can't prove to me that you would have jumped otherwise," she said smugly, "and therefore I can call you a coward either way."
"Okay, just for that, I'm getting out and jumping back in."
"You'll have already been in the water though!" Sophie reminded him as he put his hands on the side of the pool, pushing himself up.
"You just wanted to see me get out of the water," he teased, finally regaining the upper hand as he registered her blush and shameless stare. He cannonballed back into the deep end of the pool, brushing his hair out of his face when he resurfaced. "There. I jumped. Are you satisfied?"
