"And then he came up to me and he had shaving cream all over his face and his hands were stuck in his jacket pockets. The funniest part was-"

"Maddy, what's the longest you've gone without talking or making a noise in general?" Logan asked me. Him, Rachel, Jay, and I had been walking around town, just hanging out together. I had been in the middle of a story when Logan interrupted.

"Um, I don't know. Not very long I guess. Why?"

"I don't think I've ever really seen you be quiet. I want to see how long you could go."

"It isn't that hard. I'm sure I could do it.

"Twenty bucks says you can't go the rest of the day without making any noise," Logan challenged.

"Twenty bucks says I can," I glared at him.

"That's means no laughing, exaggerated gasping, whining, singing, or talking of any kind. You have to be completely mute."

"Like Ariel?" Rachel asked.

"Sure. She's the mermaid right?" Logan turned to Rachel to see her nodding her head yes. "Then yes. Exactly like Ariel."

"Okay. What time means that the day is officially over?" I asked.

"Well it's quarter to 12 right now so your goal is to go until midnight. That's 12 whole hours. Think you can handle that?"

"Of course I can. Let's shake on it and then I'll be quiet." I stuck out my hand waiting for Logan to shake it.

"Wait, Maddy," Jay said turning me around. "Logan, give me a sec." He said.

"Sure thing man. Hurry though. It's getting close to noon."

"Maddy are you sure you want to do this? I believe in you and support you but I know how much you hate silence," Jay said with worry creasing his brow.

"I can do it. Just trust me." I smiled squeezing his hand that was wrapped around mine.

"Okay. It's gonna be hard for me not hearing you laugh, though." He said with a pouty face.

"I think you'll get over it," I smirked.

"And how will I ever do that?" He asked, slumping his shoulders dramatically.

"Well this doesn't take much talking, does it," I said right before kissing him. I pulled back a little bit so that just our foreheads were touching. "Like I said, you'll be just fine."

"You're insane," he muttered with a smile on his face.

"I am n-" I was interrupted from defending myself by him kissing me again.

"But that's why I love you." He finished when we finally broke apart.

"I love you too, you weirdo." I whispered back, smiling. I finally turned back to Logan and said, "I'm ready. What time is it?"

"It's 12. You have to be completely silent in three, two, one!" Logan hit a button on the stopwatch for his phone and I closed my mouth. For the next five minutes they all stood there in silence waiting for me to break.

"Let's go get ice cream!" Jay finally said, smiling at everyone.

"Sure. Sounds like fun." Rachel said and grabbed Logan's hand. She began tugging him towards the local ice cream parlor and I felt Jay wrap his arm around my waist. As we were walking down the sidewalk I saw a mom on a walk with her baby in the stroller and almost said 'aw!' before I felt Jay's hand to over my mouth. I turned to him in confusion, his hand still on my mouth.
