Chapter 66.
Kim Jae Soo and Na Ri were hanging out at the bustling mall, the air filled with the hum of chatter and the soft background music from various stores. They found themselves at a cozy restaurant nestled in a corner of the mall's expansive food court. The restaurant, named "Culinary Delights," had a modern yet inviting decor, with warm, ambient lighting casting a soft glow over the wooden tables and plush, cushioned chairs. Artistic murals adorned the walls of the restaurant, depicting vibrant food scenes and adding to its charming atmosphere.
The tantalizing aroma of various dishes wafted through the air, making their mouths water as they perused the menu. They finally settled on a few popular dishes, eager to indulge in the culinary delights.
The first dish to arrive was a plate of crispy Korean fried chicken, coated in a sweet and spicy glaze. The chicken was perfectly cooked, with a crunchy exterior and tender, juicy meat inside. Each bite was an explosion of flavors, the sauce providing a perfect balance of heat and sweetness.
Next came a steaming bowl of jjajangmyeon, a traditional Korean black bean noodles dish. The thick, chewy noodles were generously coated in a rich, savory black bean sauce, with bits of pork and vegetables adding texture and depth to the dish. Jae Soo and Na Ri eagerly mixed the noodles, the sauce clinging to each strand, before twirling them onto their chopsticks and savoring the hearty flavors.
To accompany their meal, they ordered a refreshing citrus salad. The salad was a vibrant mix of fresh greens, juicy orange segments, and slivers of red onion, all tossed in a tangy vinaigrette. The citrus added a burst of brightness, perfectly complementing the rich and savory flavors of the other dishes.
For dessert, they shared a plate of hotteok, sweet Korean pancakes filled with brown sugar, cinnamon, and chopped nuts. The pancakes were warm and soft, the filling oozing out with each bite, creating a delightful contrast of textures and flavors.
As they enjoyed their meal, Jae Soo and Na Ri chatted about their plans for when school resumed. They laughed and reminisced about their internship experiences, sharing their excitement and anxieties about the upcoming semester. The delicious food and the comforting ambiance of the restaurant made for a perfect backdrop to their lively conversation.
The restaurant was a haven of flavors and warmth, a place where they could momentarily forget their worries and simply enjoy each other's company, or so they thought.
Suddenly, Na Ri's phone vibrated with a notification from K-Chat, the most popular chat software in Korea. K-Chat was a multifunctional platform similar to WeChat, offering messaging, social media, and various services all in one app. Users could chat, post updates, share multimedia, and even make payments, making it an integral part of daily life. The notification was from their friends Sora and Hikaru, who had shared a link in their group chat.
Clicking on the link, Na Ri's face turned from confusion to shock.
"What kind of turning white into rainbow is this person chatting up?" Na Ri hissed angrily. Seeing Na Ri's expression, Jae Soo took out the new phone his mother had gotten him and checked their group chat. Clicking on the link led to their school's blog.
ANONYMOUS: Two slutty gers couldn't keep their composure and endangered the life of the Baek family prince.
Under that post was a more detailed and gossipy message, twisting the truth into a dramatic tale.
Post:So, while everyone was writing their last semester exams, I was one of the lucky ones to have finished my papers early. As I walked out of my faculty building, I couldn't believe what I saw: two gers kissing two strange men who looked like gangsters. Trying not to eat this melon [gossip], I quickly realized that these gers were the same ones who were trending earlier in the semester for allegedly seducing the Man and Baek princes.I couldn't ignore this juicy scoop, so I whipped out my phone to capture some evidence. That's when things got even crazier! Suddenly, the Man and Baek princes arrived on the scene and caught them red-handed. A fierce fight broke out, which ended with the Baek prince being rushed to the hospital. Unfortunately, I couldn't get a clear video of the fight itself, but here's a shaky video of the Baek prince being taken away in an ambulance. Don't mind the quality—I was running away from what seemed like a bodyguard trying to stop me.[video.mp4]
Jae Soo and Na Ri exchanged horrified looks as they scrolled through the comments section. The post had already garnered hundreds of comments, many of them condemning the gers without knowing the full story.
Comments:
@isupportprincejihu: "I knew those gers were trouble from the start. Always hanging around rich boys."
@iffishestalked: "This is unacceptable! How could they endanger Baek Ji Hu?"
@Thismelonisexpensive: "I hope they get expelled for this. They don't deserve to be at our university."
More comments expressed the opinion that the school should expel them for bringing violence into the prestigious B university.
The comments only fueled Na Ri's anger. "This is all lies! They don't know what happened," he said, his voice trembling with rage.
Jae Soo's heart sank as he watched the video. The footage was indeed unclear, but it was enough to spark a wildfire of rumors and accusations. They needed to find a way to clear their names before things spiraled further out of control.
"We need to do something about this," Jae Soo said, determination in his eyes. "We can't let them ruin our reputations with these lies."
While they were brainstorming ways to prevent the post from spreading further across online platforms and causing a public outcry that could implicate their families, a call came in from Sung Ho. He reassured them, saying that they had already started handling the situation.
Na Ri felt a bit relieved by Sung Ho's words, so the two friends decided to leave the mall, as per Sung Ho's advice. He told them to head to the café owned by Shin Young, where he would meet them shortly.
Feeling a sense of relief, Kim Jae Soo and Na Ri made their way towards the mall's exit. Just as they were about to leave, Choi Su Jin and her lackeys blocked their path, their faces twisted with disdain.
Su Jin's eyes narrowed as she confronted them. "Still so bold in stepping out," she sneered, her words aimed directly at Kim Jae Soo. He didn't flinch, but his fist tightened slightly before he relaxed it again.
"Are you obsessed or something?" he retorted, his voice steady. Su Jin glared at him, jabbing a finger close to his nose.
"You... you... ah ah," she stammered, unable to finish her sentence before Jae Soo grabbed her finger and twisted it with just enough force to make her wince. Her lackeys stood behind her, too stunned to react.
"Don't ever point at my nose," he said firmly, releasing her hand and giving her a gentle but firm shove, causing her to stumble back into her startled lackeys.
"You dare push me?" she snapped, but this time Na Ri stepped forward.
"Yes, he did, but I can do worse," Na Ri said, rolling up the sleeves of his oversized sweater and preparing to demonstrate. However, Jae Soo quickly grabbed his arm and reminded him of their meeting with Sung Ho.
"Count yourself lucky that I, your ancestor, didn't break your nose and teeth," Na Ri huffed before attempting to walk off. Su Jin and her lackeys blocked their path again, however.
Su Jin's eyes burned with fury as she steadied herself. "You think you can just walk away after that? You're not getting off that easily."
Jae Soo sighed, exasperated by the persistent confrontation. "What do you want, Su Jin? We don't have time for your games."
"You're going to pay for what you've done," she hissed, her voice low and threatening. "You and your friends think you can just waltz around, causing trouble for everyone. Well, not anymore."
Na Ri smirked, his anger barely contained. "We haven't done anything wrong. Unlike you, we don't need to make up stories to feel important."
The crowd that had gathered began to murmur, sensing the tension in the air. Some looked on with curiosity, while others seemed to enjoy the unfolding drama.
Jae Soo took a step forward, his eyes locking with Su Jin's. "This is your last warning. Stay out of our way, or you'll regret it."
Before Su Jin could respond, Na Ri added with a mischievous grin, "And next time, I won't be so nice."
A/N: confrontation 1... anyways, only one person got the clue of what was wrong with Ae Cha's memory. I love reading your comments... it makes my day
Quick Question: What do you think Sung Ho and Ji Hu will do in the next chapter?
