~~Monday, March 14~~

The final bell rings and I go towards the intersection in the center of the school. I don't see Kai so I wait for him for a bit. About 5 minutes later, he walks up to me.

"H-hey." he says quietly. I smile.

"Hey, Kai, you ready?" He nods, and I sling my bag over my shoulder and lead him out to the school parking lot towards my car. I do little jazz hands, "Ta-da, your carriage, milord." I smile and I see a faint smile of his own. I open the passenger door for him, then get in when he's in.

"So, Kai, where would you like to go? We can go anywhere you'd like." I tell him as we stop at a red light.

"Uhm...the bookstore?" he says and I smile.

"The best place ever." He nods in agreement and I drive us to the bookstore. When we get there I barely get out of the car and he's already gone, walking into the store. I chuckle and run after him, slinging an arm on his shoulder.

"Almost lost ya there, cutie!"

"...not cute." he mutters and I shrug.

"I believe otherwise." We wander the shelves, picking up books. He checks his phone.

"Fuck, we need to go. I can't be late for my curfew." he says, and I nod.

"Alright, let's go buy these and we can go." We check out and head back to my car. "Ok, what's your address?" I ask and he tells me. I plug it into my GPS, driving him home.

"Stop here, if my brother is home and sees your car, he'll get really pissed" he says and I stop the car.

"Okay, be safe alright?" I say and he nods, closes the door, then runs up to his house. I drive to my apartment and just do my own thing for the rest of the day.

Kai

I run inside, panting shallowly. I get slammed against the door harshly.

"You're late!" My brother, Jared, snarls in my face, showing the clock. I was a minute late. Fuck. He throws me on the floor.

"You know what happens when you're late, Chloe." He says threateningly and I crawl away, trying to escape but he grabs me and throws me against the wall. I cry out, and he grabs my shirt collar. "Don't be late again!" He growls, punching me in the nose. He drops me and I land in a heap on the floor, scrambling to my feet and running to my room. I lock the door, crying against it.

The next morning, I wake up with my face in pain. I go to my bathroom and find my nose bruised, and cuts on my face. I start to clean them up, bandaging them. I leave and get dressed for school, slipping out without Jared seeing me.

"Kai!" Oakley yells, running towards me with a smile. I sigh, preparing for the impact, but it doesn't come. I look up, and see Olivia, holding his arm, dragging him away. I sigh, going off to class.
