Tongue Tied
chapter three
Twirling her freshly curled hair around her finger, she was finished with getting ready. Only doing a few touches onto her makeup, before fixing up her curls and putting on a white Romeo mini dress, she matched it with some brown and white sneakers, she would've warn sandles, but walking home in sandles wasn't an ideal thing she wanted to do.
The sound of a honk pulled Evangelines gaze away from the full length mirror she was checking over her outfit in.
Sliding her phone in between her shorts and hip, she quickly touched up on her lipstick before exiting her room. She closed the door to her bedroom, using a screw she picked up before she left to slide it between the door and the floorboards.
With her parents, Evangeline was raised to be sneaky, she learnt tricks around her house to keep herself as safe as possible. The biggest thing was keeping the safety of her room as safe as possible. By jamming the screw between the door and the floorboards it implied that no one was able to budge the door open unless the screw was removed.
The floorboards creaked under every step she took, taunting her on her decision of going out. She didn't bother to say goodbye to anyone, her sister was the only person home at the time but she had locked herself in her room the second she got home.
Evangeline made sure to lock the house before getting into her bestfriends car "designated driver?" She raised a brow
Nova shook her head, pulling her sunglasses down onto her nose "never, I'll come get my car tomorrow."
"Are you sure that's safe?" Evangeline questioned.
Nova almost scoffed, turning out of Evangelines driveway, she said "no one's gonna steal my car once they see us get out of it. No one in this shitty place is dumb enough to risk their life like that."
"I guess"
Under her sunglasses, Novas features scrunched together to make a confused look "what's up with the grumpy attitude?"
"Nothing" Evangeline replied, her nails drawing lines across her arm. She could feel Novas glare without having to look over, the girl gave in "maybe I should've stayed home tonight."
"No" Nova replied with a harsh and snappy tone "we're going to go to this stupid bonfire, go skinny dipping with the others and then run off with their clothes and go get drunk somewhere else. We are going to have a good time tonight, it's your second night back and I miss you. You deserve to have some fun."
"I do have fun" Evangeline said "I always have fun with you, you're pretty awesome Novs."
"I know I am, but I also know that even if you have fun there's always that lingering thought at the back of your head about what is going on back in that house. I want you to have a night where you don't think about them once." Nova frowned "I love you Evangeline, you are my favourite person, it hurts me that you hurt. Let's have this night."
"Let me remind you that you're wanting to spend this night with pignose, Burger King, got his ass kicked by Miguel and moon. There's no fun in that" Evangeline joked, although she wasn't actually joking, she hated all of them (with the exception of moon) "and I swear to god if Samantha LaRusso is there—"
"You can't hold a grudge against Sam you're entire life" Nova rolled her eyes.
"Yes I can!" Evangeline exclaimed "she betrayed my trust Nova. She's pure evil, she acts like she's so sweet until she bites you in the ass because she is a backstabber ."
