"I'm so glad you could make it," Andi smiled at Corbyn, "you mean a lot to Ben. He was a bit worried because of how busy your schedule is."
"I wouldn't miss it," he shook his head, leaning against a table with his hands shoved into his pockets, "you guys are perfect for each other."
Andi gave the boy another smile as Ben approached the two of them, a grin shared between three of them, "enjoying yourself?"
"Me? Of course." Corbyn raised his eyebrows, "I forgot how many people I know in this town, I don't know how you guys do it."
"Do what?" Andi asked.
"Stay here." Corbyn said, "you know everyone from school, don't you hate that?"
"Oh." Ben paused, "well... we want to move sooner or later, just can't afford it yet."
"Right," he slowly nodded, "yes, sorry. That's a big factor."
"We don't want to move too far either. Family is here." Ben explained as Corbyn gave a small smile, "we want our kids to grow up close to our families so... need to be not too far away."
"Makes sense," he nodded.
Andi soon left the two guys alone to enjoy their own conversation as she searched for her bridesmaids, Corbyn enjoying the music and the scenic view of the venue with every guest enjoying themselves.
And through the crowds of people dancing, talking, drinking and celebrating, a quick glimpse of the beach waved blonde hair was enough to make Corbyn do a second take and for his stomach to drop, moving his head to the side and staring at a significantly familiar face.
The girl, dressed in a subtle yellow flowy dress, talking within a circle of other guests and a drink in her hand, smiling through the conversation as Corbyn took a deep breath and turned back to the people he was with.
"...I didn't know Mila was invited." Corbyn said, running his hand through his hair as Ben went quiet for a few seconds before shrugging.
"..I'm sorry, Mila is so close with Andi and she wanted her here as much as I wanted you here," he explained, "we were trying to make sure you guys avoided each other, not sure if it ended badly or..."
"Oh! No, no bad terms." Corbyn shook his head, "I haven't spoke to her in a good few years, it's probably more awkward than anything."
"We weren't sure if she'd even make it with all her work." Ben said through a small laugh.
"Right," Corbyn nodded and smiled, looking back over at her with a sigh, "all good, makes no difference to me."
"Okay, thank goodness. We were really worried." Ben laughed, "Andi was freaking out about it, she didn't want anything to happen on her big day."
"Oh, either way I wouldn't cause stuff, I'm sure Mila wouldn't even." Corbyn furrowed his eyebrows and smiled.
"I know, I know." Ben nodded, "I'm going to go and check in on my family, you all good here?"
"Yeah, I'll go get another drink I think."
"Cool, thank you again for coming, so good to see you." Ben smiled, giving Corbyn a tap on his shoulder before heading off to the table filled with his family.
Corbyn watched him walk away before he turned his head to the bar and headed in that direction, watching his ex girlfriend slot into a free spot just seconds before he had reached it.
