Season 5 Episode 51: The Crooked Path

Back at Steep Wisdom, the ninja are setting up defence systems against the ghosts, Zane hangs up a sign
"There. That should keep customers away. Closed for renovations." Zane smiled, Kai sets up a bucket of water on top of the door
"More like fortifications. If Morro and his ghouls show up here looking to steal the Sword of Sanctuary, they won't know what him them." Kai said as Cole exits the shop, the water almost hits him
"Aah! Careful, you know not all of us are immune to water. And I for one would like to stick around long enough for Misako and Sensei to figure out the last clue." Cole said
"Well, as long as we have the sword, the more time we have." (Y/N) smiled as he sets up some water balloon catapults
"Yeah, we got Cyclon-Do, we got the sword, now they just have to figure out where the Tomb of the First Spinjtizu Master is." Jay said
"Let's hope they figure it out soon. I don't know how long we'll be able to hold out." Kai said

Inside the shop, Wu and Misako try to understand the last clue
"We know the skull represents his tomb." Wu said
"But from everything that was ever written about it, there's nothing in Ninjago that matches its description. Where is it? The clues are all right here, but what are we missing?." Misako asked as Wu sighs
"We mustn't give up. If Morro finds it first and takes the Realm Crystal, I'd hate to think what would happen next." Wu said as someone's steps on a tripline and sets off a bell
"The early detection warning system." Misako said
"Intruder!." Kai yelled
"Let him have it. Pull!." Jay yelled as everyone catapults water balloons, unfortunately it's revealed to be the postman, he sighs
"Oh, sorry thought you were a ghost." (Y/N) apologised
"No wonder you're going out of business." The Postman sighed, he gives them a letter
"No, you're the one going out of business. Heh, who sends letters anymore?." Jay asked as Kai reads the letter
"Guys, he right. It says he's gonna shut us down unless we drum up some business." Kai said
"Well so much for Wu's retirement." (Y/N) shrugged
"Well, don't tell Ronin. If this place is worthless, he won't stick around and we need all the help we can get. Come on, we're gonna need more water balloons." Cole said as they walked away

Ronin meanwhile whistles as he cleans R.E.X, Nya trains to control the water
"Come on, Nya. Become the water, reverse the flow." Nya said as the droplets don't go up, Nya sighs
"Giving up already?." Ronin asked
"Course not. Sensei thinks if I get over my fear of failure, I'll be able to control the water. Sure, I made it rain when I wasn't even paying attention, but here I can't seem to stop a single drop. Ugh." Nya groaned
"Wanna know about failure, should've asked me. Heck, I made a career out of it. Word of advice. Don't try so hard. You can't fail if you don't care." Ronin said
"Don't try? What side of backwards advice is that? Of course I'm gonna try hard. That's how one excels and-
"Speaking of backwards...
Ronin points behind Nya, Nya looks as they see the droplets are flowing up
"Oh my gosh! I'm doing it. I'm really doing it!." Nya smiled as Ronin chuckled
"Like I said, don't care so much. Usually when someone wants something too badly, they'll trip over their own feet." Ronin said as Nya smiled, (Y/N) walked past holding a bucket
"(Y/N)! I'm doing it!." Nya smiled as (Y/N) looked
"Hey! Look at that! You are, good for you." (Y/N) smiled as he gave her a quick peck on the cheek before going to get more water, Ronin then gets a message from Bansha
"Can he hear you?." Morro asked
"Oh, he can hear me." Bansha said
"Tell him it's time to pay his debt. Tell him to bring me the sword." Morro instructed

Ronin tried to look for the sword but he can't find it
"Thanks for gathering on short notice." Misako said as Kai sees Ronin
"Looking for something?." Kai asked
"Ha, just making sure the tea blends are in alphabetical order. Yup, A to Z, heh." Ronin lied as Kai joins up with the others
"So you figured out where the tomb is?." Jay asked
"Not yet, but we think we know how to locate it."
Misako said as Ronin tried to sneak away, only for Wu to come inside
"Oh! Hey, hehehe." Ronin chuckled nervously
"Zane?." Misako asked as Zane's Falcon projects the skull image, Wu turns the lights off
"To bring you up to date, the skull symbol refers to the tombs entrance." Misako said
"We also know my fathers resting site, where the Realm Crystal resides, is protected by three deadly tests designed to keep anyone unworthy away, and only the Sword of Sanctuary can see past its riddles." Wu explained
"Yeah, but where is it?." Cole asked
"We started to wonder if the scroll and the sword combined held a secret. That's when Kai reminded us there was a map on the back of the scroll-
"And if you use the sword on the map, the blades reflection will reveal the tombs location." Kai said cutting Misako off
"Exactly." Misako said
"Which means we'll have to get our hands on that map." Cole said as Ronin sneaks away and heads to the shed
"Aha." Ronin smiled as he opens the swords case, only to see the sword gone
"Something about what you side stuck with me." Nya glared as she points the sword at him
"Oh, yeah. And what's that?." Ronin asked
"That you don't care, if you don't, why are you here? Sure, this tea shop could potentially help you pay off your debt in time. Or, you could speed things up by just giving them the sword in return for your cursed soul." Nya said
"So, where does that leave us?." Ronin asked
"I don't need the sword to tell me where this is going." Nya said as Ronin starts attacking her
"I need that sword. I don't wanna have to hurt you." Ronin said
"You know, I was thinking the same thing." Nya said as she looks into the sword to see Ronin was going to kiss her
"Ugh! I have a boyfriend you know!." Nya yelled as she kicks him
"Aah! What did I do to deserve that?." Ronin asked
"You know what you were about to do. And if (Y/N) found out, you would be gone in an instant." Nya glared as Ronin trips her with a garden hoe
"Like I said, try too hard and you'll trip over yourself." Ronin said as he grabs the sword and runs
"He's getting away with the sword!." Nya yelled as the ninja approached Ronin
"Huh? Woah, woah, woah, woah. We can do this the easy way or the hard way." Ronin said as they activated their own water traps
"Haha! That was way too easy!." Ronin laughed as Zane lands on Jay
"Ow!." Jay groaned as (Y/N) gets up
"We're not gonna let you get away!." Misako yelled as Ronin as they fight each other, Ronin slices a few herbs and creates dust cloud
"Oh, now that's a nice blend. We should fight more often." Ronin said as he leaves and whistles to R.E.X and escapes, Kai tries to follow behind with Airjitzu but fails to get him
"Aah! He's getting away. To the Bounty!." Kai yelled
"Are we sure that's the wisest choice?." Wu asked Misako as he summons his dragon
"Care for a ride?." Wu asked
"I thought you'd never ask." Misako said as they fly off
"They have the right idea." (Y/N) smirked as he jumps off the Bounty and creates his dragon and follows behind
"He's fast." Wu said as they followed
"But we're faster!." (Y/N) smirked as he passed Wu
"Let's get him, boy! Hyah!." Wu yelled as he catches up to (Y/N) and Ronin, they check and see it's empty
"He's not aboard the ship." Misako said
"It's a trick!." Wu yelled
"Then where did Ronin go?." Kai asked as (Y/N) senses something
"I think I know." (Y/N) said as he dives down fast
"Where is he going? And since when did he gain this sense of danger?." Kai asked
"I guess the body change wasn't the only thing he got when he recreated himself." Cole said

Nya is at a river and looks at her reflection, she turns to leave but hears Ronin whistling on a small boat, she runs after him
"Stop!." Nya yelled
"Yeah, right." Ronin remarked
"Why are you doing this?." Nya asked
"You know why. Giving Morro the sword is the only thing that'll save me." Ronin told her
"He'll never hold up his end of the bargain. You can't trust him." Nya said
"I have to. It's my only shot." Ronin said as Nya stops
"Become the water. Become the water. Become the water." Nya said to herself as the water starts going backwards
"Reverse the flow, Nya." Nya told herself
"You got to be kidding me." Ronin groaned as he shifts his sail so the wind can push himself forward
"Face it, Nya, you're not strong enough. You care too much. I'm sorry. Nya. I wish it never had to come to this." Ronin apologised as Nya pounds the ground in rage, (Y/N) flies down
"Nya! Are you alright?." (Y/N) asked running to her
"He got away! I wasn't strong enough." Nya sighed sadly
"Yes you are, it's okay." (Y/N) kneeled down to her to comfort her
"No it's not, now Morro will have the sword." Nya sighed as they sat down at the river
"Then we just have to get it back, you did the best you could." (Y/N) said as Nya looked at him
"You're not mad?." Nya asked
"Of course not, I can't expect you to always succeed, there's got to be some failures in there, but we can learn from the failures to improve."(y/N) said as Nya kisses his cheek
"Thanks, (Y/N), that's means a lot." Nya smiled
"Come, let's head back." (Y/N) said as he gets up
"Actually, can we stay here just a little longer?." Nya asked as (Y/N) sat down again

Ronin reaches Stiix and finds Morros hideout
"Good evening." Morro said sitting on a throne
"And good night." Ghoultar said
"Heh, I like what you've done with the place. Pretty gusty making your hideout right here in Stiix. With this much water, they'd never come looking for you here." Ronin complimented
"I've never been afraid of anything." Morro admitted as Ghoultar examines the sword
"The sword is no fake." Ghoultar told Morro
"Huh, for once, the crook makes good." Morro said grabbing the sword and stabs it onto the map
"Ha! The Tomb of the First Spinjtizu Master." Morro smiled
"Now what about my soul? The deal was you'd remove the curse and free me." Robin said
"You can have your soul, but the deal has changed. I want the ninja too." Morro said
"Woah, now hold on. A deals a deal but what, so you care about the ninja? I thought you said you weren't afraid of them." Ronin said
"I'm not. But our Preeminent requires certain...safeguards." Morro explained as they laughs
"Forget it. I'll keep my cursed soul. The swords one thing but my friends are another." Ronin said
"Since when do you have friends?." Bansha asked as everyone laughs at him again, Ronin tried to leave
"Where do you think you're going? We still have a need for you. The Realm Crystal will be mine." Morro said

The team are back at Steep Wisdom
"Well, obviously he's taken the sword to Morro." Jay said
"But where's Morro? He could be anywhere." Zane said
"Look Nya, I know you're not a ninja yet, but if you're gonna be one of us-
"I'm sorry. I should've told you when I first suspected Ronin would steal it." Nya cut cold off as (Y/N) held her hand
"Enough! We all knew the path to save Lloyd was never going to be a straight line. We were all fooled by Ronin, but that doesn't make us fools. At a time like this, we mustn't butt heads, but put our heads together." Wu said as Jay snickers
"I'm sorry. You said butt heads." Jay giggles
"Not the time Jay." (Y/N) sighed as the Falcon squawks and projects a message from Ronin
"I can't talk loud, but I want to let you know, Nya, you were right. Morro didn't hold his end of the bargain. And Misako was right too. The scroll and sword did reveal the tomb. I know where it's located. I know you don't have the sword, but I know you can beat them to the tomb." Ronin gasps
"They're coming." Ronin said
"Where is it? Where the tomb?." Jay asked
"The Caves of Despair! The tomb is in the Caves of Despair!." Robin yelled as the message gets cut off
"Caves of Despair? We've been there. I don't remember seeing any tomb." Wu said confused
"But there are still miles of unexplored mines. Jr could be there." Misako reasoned
"But why should we believe him? It could be a trap." Nya said
"We don't have the scroll and we don't have the sword. With Lloyd's life at stake, what other choice do we have?." Kai asked
"We're in." Cole said
"Fool me once, shame on you. Fool me twice, shame on me. What good will it do us if it's all just a setup?." Nya said
"Then we have to go into the caves to find out won't we?." (Y/N) asked as the ninja nod
"You can't be seriously considering this (Y/N)." Nya said
"What choice do we have?." (Y/N) asked as Nya sighs
"Fine, just... be safe." Nya said as (Y/N) nodded

Meanwhile at Stiix, the message was revealed to be a trap
"It's a wrap." Ghoultar said as they laughed, Morro then released Ronin from his possession
"Pretty good impersonation. But they'll never buy it was me." Ronin groaned
"We shall see." Morro smirked as Lloyd is trapped in a cage
"You're no Green Ninja. The Green Ninja would never need to lie." Lloyd said as Morro looked at Lloyd
"Oh, you won't be the Green Ninja for long. Save your strength, because I'll be needing it." Morro smirked
"Good luck, (Y/N) won't let you keep me in your possession." Lloyd glared at Morro
"The Purple Ninja? Hahaha! Don't make me laugh, he couldn't stop me the first three times, what would make this any different?." Morro asked
"Because when he finds out you lied, he will do everything in his power to make you suffer." Lloyd glared as Morro laughed
"Well then, I'll be waiting." Morro smiled before looking at the Ghosts
"Prepare for a voyage. We head to the tomb at dawn." Morro said
"What about Ronin?." Soul Archer asked
"Leave him. He's worthless now." Morro said

The ninja travel to the Caves of Despair
"The Caves of Despair." Kai said looking around
"Woah, there is still stuff from when the Skeletons were here, I'm surprised no one stole it." (Y/N) said looking around
"This is where we first came for the Golden Weapons. It's like everything has come full circle." Cole said
"Don't say that. Full circle means it's coming to an end, and I don't want to hear that before I go into the Caves of Despair, one of my least favourite words. How do we even know the tombs in there?." Jay asked as they walked inside
"Searching to clues." PIXAL said as she finds a crudely-carved skull
"The third symbol." Kai said
"Huh, you'd expect it to look nicer." (Y/N) said
"Well it's good enough for me. Let's go." Jay said as they kept walking
At a distance, Ghoultar makes another skull with his scythe. He laughed maniacally
"There's another symbol." Jay said as they kept walking
"Something doesn't sit right here." (Y/N) said
"Probably just ate a bad burrito or something." Kai shrugged
"Huh. Looks like it only gets darker the deeper in we go." Cole said as Kai sees five lanterns
"Then it's a good thing we have a little light." Kai said as he went to go grab a lantern
"Wait! What if this is one of the tests?." Cole asked as Jay gasps
"Yeah, Sensei said the tomb was gonna be protected by three deadly tests. Maybe if we pick the wrong lantern...
Kai carefully grabs one, nothing happens
"Ha! Nope, just a lantern." Kai chuckles
Zane, Cole and (Y/N) grab a lantern each, Jay hesitates before reluctantly grabs the last lantern
"Like I thought, just another lantern." Jay said as they are about to keep going
"Wait!." Jay yelled as they see a cave in
"Looks like there was a cave-in." Kai said as Jay sniffed
"Ugh! What's that smell?." Jay asked
"My sense pick up traces of Kethanol, a highly flammable gas released from deep well mining." Zane explained
"Sure. Bet that's what all Nindroids say." Cole said
"If you're implying that smell came from me-
"Okay, enough!." (Y/N) yelled stopping Zane from continuing
"Look! Some of these rocks appear to have been recently moved. Maybe Morros already been through here." Kai said as they walked through
"Ash. Everything here has been burned. Perhaps one of the traps?." Kai asked
"Unlikely." (Y/N) said
"The Kethanol geyser. We cannot stay long. It might ignite again at any moment." Zane said as they kept walking
"Look." Cole said seeing an entrance
"Woah." Jay said as they see a skeleton
"Ew! You think it's him?." Jay asked looking at the skeleton
"The First Spinjtizu Master. Uh, but where's the Realm Crystal?." Kai asked
"That is not the First Spinjtizu Master." Zane said as (Y/N) moved a flap on the chest seeing Morro's insignia
"This is Morro's remains, this was Morro's mortal body." (Y/N) gasped
"Well, Sensei told us he never came back from looking for the tomb. So if he's here, that means...
"It is trap! Now you suffer same fate!." Ghoultar yelled as he uses his scythe to trap them
"There's no way out. If this was a test, I think we certainly failed it." Kai said as gas started leaking in
"And all this gas is making me a little lightheaded." Jay coughed
"This cavern is a virtual oven. If those geysers decide to ignite, we'll be cooked." Cole said
"PIXAL has located an opening. The cave in must have created a gap." Zane said
"Oh, but a gap to where? For all we know, it could be a dead end and for the record, that's another one of my least favourite words. Dead end." Jay said worriedly
"Unless you have another way out, then please inform us." (Y/N) said
"Too late!." Cole yelled as he grabs a boulder and blocks the geyser
"And Cole just solidified our inevitable doom." (Y/N) groaned
"Ha, solved that problem." Cole smiled
"Correction, you made it worse. Now the pressure will compact the explosion, multiplying the damage tenfold." Zane explained
"Oh, what are you trying to say?." Jay asked
"We're all gonna die in a fire pit when that boulder explodes from that geyser." (Y/N) clarified
"(Y/N) is correct, so every cave in a 10- mile radius will be filled with a wall of fire." Zane said
"Guess we better get hot on our heels." Kai said as everyone uses Airjitzu to escape to the gap
"Hurry!." Zane yelled as they ran
"Go, go, go!." Kai yelled as they hopped into a mine cart which starts moving
"Great, now what? How do we stop this thing?." Jay asked as everyone screams as the cart speed up
"Obstacle." PIXAL said, Jay gets ejected from the cart, he runs to catch up
"Almost go you." Kai said to Jay
"Watch it." Zane warned as Jay sees Ghoultar, Jay uses his Aeroblade on him
"Haha, I caught it, guys! I caught it!." Jay yelled happily as he gets back onto the cart, Cole sees a dead end
"Looks like we're coming to a dead end!." Cole yelled
"Oh, there's that word again. Never say that word! Aah! What do I do? What do I do?." Jay asked
"Zane?!." (Y/N) yelled
"Use the Aeroblade for brakes." Zane said as they did so
"It almost feels like we're going faster!." Jay yelled
"Should I use my powers to destroy the wheels?." (Y/N) asked
"Did you just hear yourself there?!." Cole asked
"Oh right, stupid." (Y/N) groaned
Suddenly R.E.X arrived and unraveled a ladder
"Haha! I could kiss Ronin! After i clobber him for getting us into this mess." Cole said as they climb up inside only to not find Ronin
"Oh, oh, oh. Autopilot! Course he's too scared to show his face." Jay crossed his arms as Ronin appeared on screen
"Hey, ninja. If you're getting this message, I'm sure you have some choice words for me." Ronin said
"He's smarter than he looks." (Y/N) crossed his arms
"But I want to tell you, that wasn't me who sent you to this trap. I was under the control of Morro. I know you think I'm a crook by taking the sword, and I wanna make things right by offering my airship, R.E.X as a peace offering. I know it's not what you had in mind, but I've remotely entered the location of the tomb. The real one this time." Ronin said as he shows them a map of the Endless Sea
"Look at that. The reason Misako never found the tomb in Ninjago was because it was never there in the first place. It's under the ocean." Kai said
"Morro had a head start, but R.E.X should get you straight there in a jiff. And if it's any consolation, this'll be the last you see of me. If Nya wants to know a reason, tell her it's because I care. Okay. Good luck. And go make things right." Robin said
"We will Ronin, you have our word." (Y/N) said as they look at each other
"Looks like we're headed to the tomb. Time to buckle up." Kai said as they flew off
"We're coming for you Morro, this ends today." (Y/N) said as everyone looked determined
