DURING THE QUIET hours at work, Maya would read. Every week she'd bring a new book, sometimes it would end in the stack of books at the edge of her desk, sometimes she'd be able to read it through, but if there was one thing the entire office could count on, however, it was that Maya's desk served as a free library ( and she didn't mind, as long as they treated her books nice and didn't bring them home ). If there was one book she refused to let anyone take anywhere, or even read, it was ' A Little Life ', her copy of the book well-worn and about to fall apart, yet still treasured and re-read frequently. While it had always been one of Maya's favorite books, it had received a very special role thanks to Luke – who invited her out for their first date one late evening outside the stage door after he'd performed, his portrayal of Willem solidifying Maya's interest for the theatre.

Hannah had noticed, Maya was sure. Maybe not so much the theatre part, but the fact that this was the one book Maya returned to time after time. Over the years of their friendship, Hannah had – on multiple occasions – attempted to get Maya interested in ballet, though it was yet to stick ( Maya was certain it would never stick, Hannah still had her hopes up ). They had done the interview with Luke Newton, and although it hadn't given them the scoop Hannah and Maeve were hoping for, it had quickly become one of the articles on their website with the most clicks – and, she wasn't about to toot her own horn, but Maya was certain her photos helped with achieving some extra clicks. The next interview, which was scheduled for a Monday afternoon, was with Jonathan Bailey, and while Maya had her ideas for photos clear, Hannah couldn't stop herself from meddling.

"I think you really should consider–," she trailed off, before reaching across the desk to pull the book from Maya's hands. "Geez, reading this again? Of all the books in your stack, why is it this one you're constantly pulling out to read again and again?"

"Of all the different ballets, why is it that every Christmas, you go see the Nutcracker again and again?" Maya scowled in return, watching as a grimace flashed across Hannah's face for just a brief second. "Point made, now you were saying?" She huffed, snatching her book back from Hannah's hands.

"I ws just saying we should have photos with some colour in them," Hannah groaned. "You know, we never got around to discussing your photo of the mystery man walking Obie. What's up with that?" She leaned forward, resting her chin in her hand as she patiently waited for Maya to explain.

"It's true, we were too busy getting ready for Newton's interview," Maya shrugged, dropping her book into it's spot in the top drawer of her desk, a place she knew it would be ' safe ' from the somewhat grabby hands of their co-workers ( they did respect her book-related rules, but with that single book, she didn't take any chances ). "I figured it was a whole lot more important for us to make this interview the best it could be, instead of spending the entire day gossiping about my romantic life."
