"Well, yes Khalil, that's kind of how exes work,' Y/n explained for the last time while the man mumbled to himself. "But we aren't exes, and you can't fuck anybody else," he said into the phone. It was an ongoing thing with Khalil trying to control her from behind bars.
"Listen, the day you find me is the day you can have some pussy. we can get back together, you can control me all you want, allat. Until then—Khalil, focus on your mental health. You're a fucking psycho," she said, shaking her head and ending the call.
His lips curled into a smirk before he let out a small sigh. He leaned back against his bed as the officers took away his phone. He was in a small space with not much to do every day.
Talking to Y/n gave Khalil more and more life. Her accepting his calls meant she missed him and was just being stubborn. The boy glared down at his sweatpants before huffing.
He placed something over his lap and picked up his book again. He was zoned out on the pages, thinking about Y/n. He could only assume she had moved on at least once; she stopped answering his calls for a few months, but it didn't matter. He called every day until she did.
"You told a fucking psychopath to find you," Jarad stated, looking at her. She shrugged while opening a can of pineapples. He stared at her before repeating himself.
"You told Khalil Perez to come find you. A man with no purpose, a man with nothing to lose, someone who takes medication to keep himself from harming everyone... to come find you. Like a dumb idiot!" Jarad shook his head as he watched the girl drink some juice.
Khalil still had a couple more years in prison. Y/n didn't think anything would happen, and she couldn't understand why Jarad was so worked up about it. No matter how many times she asked, he would just repeat himself.
"Jarad, if Khalil breaks out of prison to find me, I'll marry him and suffer in silence for the rest of my life," she said, handing him the can. Jarad took half, and she dumped the rest onto a plate and started eating.
"Get ready to suffer then! You just promised that man exactly what he wanted," Jarad shook his head. Y/n groaned and rested her head on the counter. After a while, she changed the subject multiple times until Jarad realized she wasn't going to grasp the seriousness of the situation.
They discussed Khalil, her past relationships, and then made plans for later. "Just invite Cam and we can all go," she said, standing on the first step and watching Jarad. He nodded, turned around, and called Cam.
