I woke up around 4:30 am when Mako was getting ready to leave for the trials. I sat up and stretched as she handed me coffee "You trying out today?" She asked quizzically I shook my head "I don't know" and she looked hopeful making me ask "Are you?" and her eyes glistened then died "No Marshal will not allow me even tho he promised I can" I nodded and hmm'd "Well I guess we'll have to make him change his mind then huh?" I smirked at her and rolled out of bed to get dressed in a tank top that showed my stomach and sweat pants that hung at my hips and pulled my hair back into a braided bun and made my way to the trial room as Raleigh was fighting with one of the triplets taking him down quickly. I stood on the other side of Stacker as he smirked at me "this means nothing just watching" I muttered as he nodded "All I ask is you try" he muttered back and I look up to see Mako with a glum expression I watched Raleigh as he took on the remaining triplet and I went on to stare at the crowd with my eyes connecting with the blue orbs of the man I loved as he watched me instead of Raleigh. Mako asked surprised "Every time a match ends you make this little gesture like you're critical of their performance." He asked irritated "It's not their performance, it's yours. Your gambit. You could have taken all of them two moves earlier." I announced looking at my brother and hearing whispering from the crowd "You think so?" Raleigh asked "I know so" Mako said to keep us from arguing "Can we change this up? How about we give her a shot?" Raleigh motioned at Mako and she became like an excited toddler looking at Stacker "NO! the cadet list we have, ranger. Only candidates with Drift compatibility" and he looked at me "Which I have, marshal." She said cutting him off "Mako, this is not only about a neural connection. It's also about a physical compatibility." He said as he looked ahead at Raleigh "What if I beat him? Will you give her a chance then?" I asked him and he looked like he was considering it "She's too inexperienced" he said as Raleigh added in "What's the matter, marshal? Don't think your brightest can cut it in the ring with me?" He asked cockily pissing off Stacker as he looked at me "Go" and I looked at Raleigh grinning as I walked down the steps and removed Chucks jacket and I looked into the crowd to see him look a bit nervous but I grinned and looked at Sasha who smiled and put her thumbs up in approval. I leaned down to take my boots off and sit them beside my jacket and grabbed a stick looking at Raleigh as he smirked "It's about time Brookie. Thought you were going to chicken out. I'm not dialing down my moves just because it's you" I cocked my head to the side and loosened my shoulder muscles "Okay" I smiled "And neither will I" "Four strikes marks a win" Stacker announced as we went to our respective spots and started, we just stared at each other as we spun our weapons around and before I knew it Raleigh struck at me holding the stick to my face "1-0" and I spun my stick around blocking his and repeating his move "1-1" I muttered as we backed up and he struck at my side "2-1 you need to concentrate" He said making me irritated I struck again and aimed at his shoulder "2-2, better watch it" and turned around as he lunged at me and we started smacking our weapons against each other to block each others' hits and Raleigh made the mistake of leaning back from me which I took advantage of and used my foot to trip him causing him to fall back so I lunged on top with my stick to neck as he looked at me in awe "3-2, who's not concentrating now?" I smirked at him and let him regain his composure before I lunged again but he blocked it and it went on like this with us blocking each other for a few minutes when he tried tripping me and using my attack but I calculated this and rolled to the side in time and flipped myself on my feet and ran at him jumping on his back with my stick to his throat "4-2 that's the match" Stacker yelled "I have your new co-pilot" he announced and I took in a deep breath from the work out and shook my head "No, I did that for Mako" I glared at him and proceeded to my gear and stalked out the door. I heard footsteps behind me and was still in fight mode when I turned around about to punch the person when my fist was grabbed and he looked into my eyes "Easy does it there woman, I'm just checkin on you. Ya know? Trying to act like a decent husband" He smiled at me as I glared at him "Jesus Charles don't do that after I've been sparing" I muttered and went to walk away but was picked up with ease by Chuck and taken to the edge of the flight pad overlooking the ocean "What's up your ass woman? Talk to me" He said sincerely causing me to sigh "I don't even know anymore Charlie I really don't. I've always loved being a pilot, talked about missing being a pilot yet here I am, turning it down all because my feelings got hurt 5 years ago by my brother" He pulled me into his arms "I know love and I get it. He was your hero and he hurt you mentally causing damage to a strong woman who loved him more than life itself, I seen it and felt it remember? That's why I don't like the bloke plus he really is a mediocre pilot who gives us a bad name" he smirked and kissed my head "Sometimes you can be really sweet Charlie and just when I think you've finally grown up, you keep opening your mouth and let the garbage run out" I looked up at him smiling and kissed his lips "Am I forgiven love?" he whispered in my ear causing tingles to go down my spine "Yes" I whispered out as our lips collided in need of each other as my hands went to both side of his face and he kept holding me close. We broke our kiss long enough for me to grab his hand and walk to our room. As soon as he closed the door, he looked at me with lust in his eyes and yanked my tank off; picking me up and dropping me on the bed I watched him as he took off his shirt and let him get on top of me and we started to make out.
