The next morning, I felt sick to my stomach. I lay sprawled on the bed, the room wouldn’t stop spinning.
I had to be better by next Wednesday, that’s when I was planning to help J with all the stuff.
He was still at work, he had to stay overnight. He didn’t know how bad I felt.
“Ms. Caer?” I lifted my head dizzily to meet the eyes of one of the woman henchmen in this place. She had long, curled blonde hair that went down to just below her breasts, she had silver eyes, which I could sort of tell were contacts. Of course, no one else could notice the small details in her expensive looking contacts, but I could.
“Yes?” I sighed, I tried thinking of the name J gave her. Propping myself up with my elbows and slowly pushing myself into a comfortable sitting position, my eyes stayed locked with hers. I leaned against the headboard, adjusting the pillows against my back.
“Joker wanted me to check up on you. How are you doing?” she asked, I bit my lip.
“Oh, I’m doing good.” I lied, and by her body language, I could tell she didn’t believe me.
I wouldn’t either, I sucked at lying.
“If I lie to Joker, he’d shoot me in a second.” she stated.
“And I have no authority now?” I asked, crossing my arms. This girl was being put in a pretty sticky situation, caught between to bosses.
She hesitated, then pushed a blonde lock behind her left ear. She seemed to pretty for a mere henchmen.
“Well, you do, but Joker is my official boss, and...” she hesitated, then left it as that, eyes flashing up to meet mine once more.
“Hm. Alright! Whatever, say what ya want to, I don’t mind.” I said in the most cheerful way I could to sound like how I usually did, but it was tiring pretending to be my hyper self lately. “What’s your name?”
“Lindsey, but Joker gave me the nickname Laffy.” she spoke, I would refer to her as Laffy.
“Alright.” I said, then crossed my arms.
“Would you...uh...” she hesitated once more, she did that a lot. At least she was careful on what to say to me, the henchmen never really dealt with me so they never really knew how my temper was. They assumed it was the same as Jack’s.
“Would I what?” I questioned, sighing, watching her actions as Rajan walked past her and into the room. Her eyes clung onto the large tiger, Rajan didn’t really mind her, but once he sat down, his upper lip started trembling and his eyes darkened.
Laffy seemed to notice, and shivered.
“Rajan, stand down.” I smoothly commanded, Rajan listened and lay down, his chin resting on the floor.
“Would you like me to get you a uh....”
“A pregnancy test?”
My eyes widened momentarily, I hesitated. “I don’t need one.”
“So you and J are....careful?”
I felt like I should slap her for asking her own boss about her sex life.
I was taken off guard by this question, I pursed my lips, she looked around, trying to break the awkwardness.
I then was hit with the realization.
J didn’t use protection often.
My period was late.
Rajan was awfully close to my stomach, more protective over me.
I had morning sickness.
My mouth went in the shape of a Cheerio, I let out a long breath.
“Uhm, yes please.” I said, she nodded, her face mixed with emotions. She left the room quickly, I looked at Rajan, uneasy.
“Rajan, come come.” I spoke softly, he jumped onto the bed, nearly catapulting me forward as his weight crushed the bed in front of me, it was all I could laugh at at the moment. He nuzzled his head gently on my stomach, I shivered, my hand reaching to my stomach. I rested my hand on it, feeling really weird for having it there.
I needed to throw up.
I got up, running to the bathroom. I almost didn’t make it to the toilet in time, emptying what was left in my stomach out into the porcelain bowl. I breathed hard, flushed the toilet, and then brushed my teeth. When I turned, there was Laffy with five boxes.
“You speak a word of this to J, and I will make you eat your tongue.” I spoke, I wasn’t lying. She gulped, then handed me the boxes. She handed me three bottles of water, it was nice of her to know I couldn’t pee on command, like what happened at doctor’s offices when they had to test you for drugs or problems.
“Thanks.” I sighed, she left the bathroom. I closed and locked it, downing the water bottles. My mouth was awfully dry anyways.
I had the urge to pee, and took the tests. When I was done, I opened the door. Laffy walked in, and we both watched with anticipation for the result.
Five minutes later, I put my hand shakily on my mouth, sqeezing my eyes shut for a moment. I felt myself getting sick again, this was all too intense for me.
“It’s....” Laffy started.
