Chapter 9

"I have destroyed myself to such extend that there's no coming back now, I cannot even if I want to", he said getting off the bed.

She kept looking at his direction as he left the room, he was asking her to replace him, little did he know she had already given her heart and soul to this monster and there's no going back.

She wiped off her tears and tried to get off the bed when a pain shot her up and she remembered about her injury, she couldn't do things herself now, she waited for him to comeback.

She picked up her phone from table and opened contacts when she remembered, she doesn't even have his number, heck, almost a month of their marriage and they didn't even have each other's number, that was their relationship.

She stayed like that for almost an hour, she felt helpless, that was the time when she realized the value of the time when her legs were properly working. Not only was her leg injured but she felt immense weakness due to the injection and painkillers.

She was done waiting for him now, she decided to step out of the bed, she could walk by hoping on one leg.

As she to placed her one leg on the floor, she felt pain shot up on her foot, she held the table beside for support and tried to stand, she stood on support and tried to walk forward, yes she could, bathroom was only a few steps away.

She she moved 2 steps forward hoping on one leg, she had to leave the table for support, she tried hoping forward and got disbalanced and had to keep her other leg on the ground, which caused her immense pain and she ultimately fell off.

A few minutes later, Manik came back and saw struggling on the ground trying to crawl.

"Nandini", he ran towards her shouting her name and she sighed as he was finally here.

"Manik where have you been", she said in exhaustion.

"I'm sorry", he said picking her up in a bridal style and placing her on the bed.

"I was trying to walk somehow but I couldn't, I couldn't even contact you as I don't have your number", she said and it hit him too.

He asked for her phone and dailed his number on it.

"I'm sorry for today, I left like that, sorry for yesterday as well, call me anytime you need help ok", he said placing his hand on her head.

"Manik please take me to the washroom", she said and he nodded picking her up again.

"He entered the washroom with her in his arms he placed her on a cabinet and handed her, her brush so she could brush off her teeth, after she did so and washed her face, he carried her back to the bed.

"Wait for a while, I'll get you something to it, you need to have your medicines too", he said and was about to leave when she held his hand.

"Manik what about my school"

"You have to take leave Nandini, for a few days, you cannot even walk right now", he said and she called up the principal of her school informing her about the situation.

"What did she say?", Manik asked after she hanged up the call.

"She said 3 days would be a paid leave after that they'd cut it from my salary because they'll also have to find a replacement until then, it's class 10th and they have boards next year", she said and he sighed.

"It's ok you'll be fine soon", he said holding her cheeks in one hand her noticed her skin warm, he moved his hand on her forehead and noticed she was warm.

"You have fever Nandini", he said and got off the bed, he opened the cupboard and got out a blanket for her.

He covered her entirety with the blanket and left the room.

He came back with a tray of food in his hand and she smiled seeing him, she always knew he had a good side in him, which he keeps hidden, she didn't knew the reason why he does that, but she'll soon find out.

He sat beside her and started feeding her, she had her hands working fine and she could eat herself but she had no heart to tell him that, she loved how he was treating her recently maybe because of the guilt, she didn't care all she wanted was to cherish these moments because she never knew when he'd get back to his usual self.

"Manik", she called.

"Hmm", he said feeling her another bite.

"Aap bhi Khao na", she said and he smiled.

"I'll eat after you"

"No, I know you won't, eat with me", she said stubbornly and he agreed.

As they finished the food and took out the medicines he bought this morning when he had left her.

He made her swallow the medicine and told her to rest.

She knew he had to leave now, and she felt low even thinking about it, her in laws weren't home so she'd be all alone today.

She saw him enter the room again but he wasn't dressed, still in his casual clothes.

"Manik aren't you going to office", she asked

"No, how can I leave here in this condition, I won't go till mom and dad are back, once mom is here she can take care of you", he said and she was speechless, was this the same Manik, she had married.

"But since they are not here, office mein kaam handle karne ko to hoga I guess you should go", she said, she couldn't be selfish here.

"Yes, but there are people to handle this and I'm handling this from here, that's not a problem", he brought his laptop along and sat near her on the bed.

"You should close your eyes abd take rest", he said looking at her and started working on the laptop and she just kept quiet.

His parents were come day after tomorrow, they 2 days back and felt horrible in their absence, as only her and Manik were left in the house and considering the equation they had, it was awkward and weird to stay alone in the house with him.

But, now she felt better, these two days till they come, it's going to be there's, they're are going to be like this, she wanted time to still and stop this Manik from leaving.

She didn't realize when she drifted into a deep slumber while all these thoughts in her head.
