I saw her. In person. For the first time in five years.

Ivy Sexton.

She looked so good. So unbelievably fucking good. But seeing how heartbroken she was when I came out, it undid me. I never wanted her to see me like this, for this nightmare version she had probably only seen images and heard second hand reports of was not real. But tonight, I made it real and she saw it with her own eyes.

"What was that pathetic display?" Lord asks.

"Sir, we are sorry. It's the new girl on their team, she's pyrokinetic. She seems to have greatly improved her powers since the last time we fought. I've never seem fire do that, it.. it didn't operate like how normal pyros use their fire magic. It was like, it was just.. permaflame or something, it didn't stop burning, the smoke was dark it.." Charithra pants, rotating her shoulder, trying to get all the air and cramps out of it as the nurse tends to the bruises on her arm.

"I don't care what.. Wait, she was able to do all that? How long has she been on the field? When did you fight her last?" Lady asks.

"Like, three weeks ago. Why?" Kristian replies.

"What color was her hair?" Lady interrogates.

Alexander scoffs, "My Lady, what significance would that have?"

"Answer the question, what color was her hair?"

"Uh, it was a fiery red. Fitting for a pyrokinetic." Mea responds. An eerie silence on their end, and it seems to last forever. We all exchange glances, trying to figure out why they've gone quiet all of a sudden. The silence finally breaks with a command from the Lord.

"Incapacitate her first. She's now your first target. You will not kill her, but you will bring her back here. I don't care in what state, she just needs to be alive. Get to the others later next time you meet on the battlefield." He commands.

I furrow my eyebrows in confusion and look to Mea, who seems just as confused.  "But sir, we deal with pyrokinetics all the time, and this one is a rookie. Surely, we should be more occupied with the other-" Kristian begins when he's interrupted by the Lord.

"No. At the rate she's at, she could prove more vital to our cause than any of your feeble minds could even begin to fathom. If she is who we think she is, the amount of true and unlimited potential she possesses and could bring into the Light is magnificent. You will bring her to us."

"Uh- My Lord, may we ask, what power is that exactly?" A-ri asks.

"One of old mythologies, from before any of our time. She could be what the world has been searching for for centuries, and if she is it, we should have it. We should own it. And so help me, I will kill all of you if I can't get that power in my grasp." He sneers.

"You will do as we say. Get the girl. Fail, and you shall be cast from our Light expeditiously." His wife warns.

We all get down on our knees and bow to them as usual, "We understand what we need to do. Thank you for shedding your Light on us." We say. They end the call and we all sit back down.

"What kind of power could this girl, a rookie have that they want her so badly? We face pyrokinetics all the time, whats so special about this one?" A-ri huffs as she sits back down.

"I don't know!" Alexander runs a hand through his hair exasperatedly, "I wish they'd just tell us outright and not keep us in the dark all the time."

A silence falls in the room, and it gives my brain the space it needs to start trying to piece together what it is the esteemed Lord and Lady are keeping from us. A pyrokinetic girl with probable immense power, a power of old legend that is so magnificent they want her desperately, like a child craves its mother's warmth or an assassin yearns to exterminate their target and get the reward. Strings start to slowly collide in my mind, and a theory emerges. However, it seems so impossible that I toss it toward the back of my brain. There's no way it would hold any legitimacy.. Right?
