"What the hell happened to you Nightfall? Why didn't you report back to us?" Handler asked aggravated and she glanced at Fiona through her rearview mirror.
"They ambushed me," Fiona repeated, her voice gaining some strength. "They said they were after 'Test subject 007'. I have no idea what that means, but it can't be good."
"Test Subject 007... I've never heard of it," I said, trying to piece together the information. "We need to get Fiona to a safe house and then figure out our next move."
We drove in silence for a while, each of us lost in our thoughts. The city lights blurred past, a stark contrast to the tension that hung in the air. Finally, we arrived at a secure WISE safe house. Handler and I helped Fiona inside while Yor did a thorough sweep of the perimeter to ensure we weren't followed.
Once we were inside and the doors were securely locked, I turned to Fiona. "Tell us everything you remember. Any detail could be crucial.Fiona took a deep breath, wincing slightly as she settled into the chair. She closed her eyes for a moment, as if gathering her thoughts, then began to speak.
"I was on a routine surveillance mission, nothing out of the ordinary," she started. "I followed a lead to an abandoned warehouse on the outskirts of the city. It seemed like a dead end at first, but then... then everything went dark. The next thing I knew, I was tied up and being interrogated."
"Who were they?" I asked, leaning forward. "Did they say anything else?"
Fiona shook her head. "They were professionals, no doubt about it. They wore masks, spoke in code. They kept asking about 'Test Subject 007.' When I told them I didn't know anything about it, they... they just left me there. It felt like they wanted me to be found. Before they left, they told me to let Twilight know, if he dares to do anything, they will kill her instantly..."
"Kill who?," I said. "It feels like a setup, but for what?"
Handler paced the room, her brow furrowed. "This doesn't make any sense. Why go through all that trouble just to leave you behind without any guards or traps?"
Handler nodded, her mind clearly racing with possibilities. "Alright, we need to dig into this 'Test Subject 007' lead. There must be something in our archives or intelligence reports that can shed some light on this."
"I can start looking into it right away," I offered. "Fiona, you should rest. You've been through a lot."
Fiona nodded, her eyes heavy with exhaustion. "Thank you. Just... be careful. Whoever did this, they're dangerous."
"We will," I assured her, then turned to Handler. "Let's get to work."
Handler led me to a secure room equipped with state-of-the-art technology. We booted up the WISE database and began searching for any references to 'Test Subject 007.' The minutes ticked by as we sifted through countless files and reports, frustration mounting as we came up empty-handed.
"Wait," Handler said suddenly, her eyes narrowing as she pulled up a classified file. "I think I found something. Look at this."
"Project Eclipse," I read aloud.
Handler nodded grimly. "If 'Test Subject 007' is connected to Project Eclipse, we're in deep trouble. This project was supposed to be buried forever. The building is impenetrable."
"Where is this place?" I ask. Handler began looking through her documents, after much shifting, she pulled out an old photograph. It was a heavy guarded building with various fences. There was nothing surrounding the building accept empty fields.
This was the building Franky and I infiltrated... Project Eclipse. The project involves human experimentation, a project that had been shut down years ago due to ethical concerns and security risks. Worst of all... Anya was part of this project.
