Madeline-
I looked at my father as he slid the envelope to me. I couldn't believe it, even after he told me the news an hour ago. I was going to be the minister of magic, I don't know how he made it happen being a muggle himself, but of course my father always got his way.
"Are you sure this is wise father?" I asked, I opened the envelope, it wasn't sealed yet, so I easily took out the paper.
"Why would I not be sure about this? This is a wise decision." He said, straightened his shoulders, grabbing a pen for me to sign.
"I mean I'm going to be Queen in two years, but being Minister of magic on top of that too? That's very stressful." I said, taking the pen from his hand.
"No, I think it's perfect, this way the wizarding world gets its first muggle-born leader, and you can get a feeling of what it's like to be a leader." He said.
"Now sign the papers." I clicked the pen, signing the paper. We would have the official event this weekend and announce that I would be the next minister of magic at the Minister. His reasoning made sense, but it still made me a little uneasy, ruling two worlds with two different rules and regulations made me nervous. There was a knock on the door, my father muttered a 'come in.' The door opened, and Elizabeth poked her head in.
"Sorry your majesty, but Princess Madeline, your friends are here for your 12:30 coffee date." She said, after leaving Hogwarts and finishing my military training, I needed to find an assistant that I could trust and knew well. The only person I knew I could trust for that job was Elizabeth.
"Thank you, Beth, we we're just finished." I said, standing up. I put the papers back in the envelope. I opened my purse, and dropped the letter in.
"I'll drop this off at the ministry later today." I said, father nodded before I walked out of his office, and shut the door behind me.
"Have a nice day, your highness." Colin yelled, as I walked past. Elizabeth and I walked downstairs to the entrance hall, where my friends were waiting for me. Daphne, Blaise, and Theo were standing around the entrance hall, they'd been my best friends since the first day of Hogwarts, and we've been inseparable since.
"Mads! Finally, we've been waiting here for thirty minutes." Daphne said.
"I thought we said 12:30?"
"Nope, 12."
"I'm sorry, I wrote down 12:30, and I got stuck in a meeting with my dad. Guess who's the new Minister of Magic, just signed the papers." I grinned; Blaise's eyebrows rose surprised.
"No way, so you're going to be at the ministry more now."
"Your Highness, the cars ready." Bill, our driver said, I nodded, muttering a thank you, as we started walking to the car. Since I introduce them to this coffee shop called, 'Bean Blossom,' we got hooked, and have been going there every Friday since. Bill opened the door for us, and we all settled into the back seat, I pressed the divider button and it rose blocking our conversation from Bill.
"I can't believe it, I'm so excited, we can finally hang out every day again, just like Hogwarts." Daphne said.
"So instead of torturing Hogwarts, we're going to be torturing the ministry. I just know the ministry is going to be counting down the days till we can retire." Theo said, making us laugh.
"We we're not that bad. It's not like we were Harry Potter."
"We just got drunk every weekend, I don't know how that happened." Blaise said, sarcastically. I shook my head, as the driver parked in front of 'Bean Blossom,' I looked at the car behind me, another palace guard car, they parked the car, Jackson and April stepped down, my two guards for the day. I always had one or two guards with me anytime I leave the palace, just for my safety.
We walked into 'Bean Blossom,' several people turned and stared at me as I passed, which was unsurprising, as we placed our orders, and sat at our usually table by the window, April and Jackson sat close by. We chatted about work, which was mainly Blaise complaining about his partner at work.
"If we just finished the Wilckens job properly, we would've stayed partners." Blaise huffed to Theo, as the waitress brought over there drinks. They were both Auror's and had been partners up until Theo landed in the hospital and was still injured.
"Oh, I'm sorry if me almost dying was the problem." Theo muttered,
"So, you had a couple of broken bones, I don't see that as a reason to not-"
"Try almost every bone in my body." Theo said, Daphne shook her head at Blaise.
"What? It wasn't my fault. We got ambushed, okay? I just hope the new head of the auror department will switch us back." He said,
"Who is the head? He's supposed to be at my Minister cermoney." I asked as I snuck a bit of Blaise's scone. The three of them nervously looked at each other, Blaise shoved his scone in his mouth, as Theo pursed his lips staring at Daphne.
"You two are pricks. This was supposed to be a group meeting." Daphne hissed, smacking Theo's arm.
"Hey! Injured here!" He rubbed his arm.
"Just say it Daphne,"
"What are you three talking about just say whatever you're hiding." I clutched my cup anxiously. Daphne huffed,
"Fine! I'll say it!" She hissed, before turning to me kindly.
"Draco's the new head of Auror's. He's coming back to England."
