Chapter 10
_Three days later_
"Sanji..."
"Mhm?"
"You're burning the chicken."
I jumped, looking down. My eyes widened as I quickly removed the pan from the heat and set it down on the counter. I stared at it; my heart broken that I ruined such a beautiful piece of meat. Then I scowled at myself for being distracted. Sighing, I picked the piece up with a fork and put it into a bag. Even if it's burnt, it can still be eaten. I'll take it home and cut it up for a salad or something for dinner.
"You okay, boss?" one of the chefs asked.
"Y-yeah, I just have a lot on my mind. I want to help, but as you see, it's not working. I'm going to the office."
"Okay, I'll inform everyone."
I smiled weakly and left the kitchen. I pulled out my phone and sighed sadly. Zoro still hasn't reached out to me. He returned my car the next morning before work but was completely silent as he handed me my keys and left again. He didn't even kiss me. Not that I had wanted him too, but he usually did when we separated for a bit.
I sat down in my chair and placed my arms on the desk before laying my head down as well.
"I wished he'd at least tell me he's okay-"
There were three knocks on the door. I jumped in my seat and cleared my throat, calming my heart. "Y-yeah?"
The door opens, and my heart is suddenly not beating anymore when the intruder stepped in. I jumped out of my seat and was around my desk in an instant. "Moss head!"
His arms opened, and I threw myself into them without a second thought. "Heh, miss me?"
I froze and pushed away from him, coming back to reality. "No!"
He grabbed my elbow and pulled my back towards him. "That's too bad. Because I missed you."
I felt my face heat up as our eyes met. "You did?" I asked dumbly.
"Mhm."
My heart went from not beating, to beating so fast it felt like it was about to burst of my chest. This wasn't good... "Doesn't that mean you like me?"
He laughed, shaking his head. "I miss your body, cook."
"Oh...That's good then. You had me worried for a moment there... wait, why are you here? Is everything okay at the club?"
He scowled and bawled his fists up. "No. I had to fire everyone who was working that shift. I don't allow drug use, and the fact that this happened under their noses pisses me off."
"Even your family friend guy?"
He sighed, nodding his head. "Yes. Even him."
I wrapped my arms around his waist and put my head on his shoulder. "So, you have to be there more."
"All the time, just about."
"Will we still be able to play?"
"Of course, just not as often as I'd like."
"Why'd you come here?"
"To kiss you."
"But we aren't playing."
"So? I told you I missed you, didn't I?"
"You said you missed my body."
"Your lips are a part of your body, aren't they?"
