Chapter Nine
_7:13 PM, the next day_
"This is it here on the right. That Korean BBQ place."
I nodded my head and flipped on my blinker as I slowed down. The parking lot was full of cars, and it took Zoro and I several minutes to find a spot to park. He grabbed my face the moment we were parked and kissed me. I flushed, pushing him off.
"This is why we're already late. Keep your hands to yourself," I growled at him.
When I had finished getting ready, I went over to his house to ask if he wanted to carpool. The moment he opened the door, and we got a good look at each other, there was like a shock of electricity that went through the both of us. Him more than me. What was supposed to be a ten-minute quickie, turned into a thirty minute one. We even stopped to make out while trying to put our clothes back on which slowed us down even more.
"Sorry... you're right. You just look so sexy right now."
My blush darkened, and I took my seatbelt off. "Let's go."
We quickly got out and jogged to the entrance. He held the door open for me, and he looked around for his dad in the lobby. Once he spotted him, he took me by the wrist and pulled me after him. I groaned, pulling myself free and shoving him forward. He laughed, turning to wink at me. My middle finger was all he got in return.
"Son, what took you so long?"
Zoro coughed into his hand, hiding a smirk. "Traffic."
I flushed and looked at my feet when his eyes darted to me. "Uh.... huh... Well, have a seat. We saved two seats down at the end."
I practically hid behind him, making sure to calm my nerves before letting anyone seeing me. My hand reached out for my chair once we reached out spot, but he was already there suddenly, pulling it out for me. I gave him a soft smile and sat down the same time he did. I looked around the table; there were about ten other people here, mostly men.
"Hi Zoro, it's been a while."
My head turned towards the voice on my left. A girl with pink hair smiled at him, ignoring me completely. My eyes darted over to Zoro. He was frowning at the girl as if he had no idea who she was.
"You should introduce yourself to someone if you're going to talk around them."
My eyes widened in shock. Her eyes darted to me. "Oh, I'm sorry, I guess. My name is Perona."
"She's my adopted sister," Zoro finished.
"O-Oh. It's nice to meet you, and really there was no reason to apologize..."
I elbowed him in the shoulder.
She giggled and narrowed her eyes at me. "You two seem to get along. How'd you two meet?"
"Mind your own." Zoro took his straw wrapper. His fingers rotated it into a ball before he tossed it at her.
"Geez, you're so protective of him. He's an adult, you know."
"He only cares about his own feelings."
My eyes widened, and I covered my mouth. That was not supposed to come out of my mouth. It was the truth, but it was also kind of harsh. Plus, wouldn't she think there was more than just a friendship between us? God, I'm such an idiot.
I was shocked when they both laughed.
"Well, he's not wrong," Zoro replied.
"That he's not."
I exhaled and smiled nervously. A waitress came at that time and took our drink orders. I was going to get myself a sweet tea, Zoro took it upon himself to order us a few sakes. I tried interrupting him, but he pinched my thigh, and I shut my mouth. The waitress left, and I glared at him.
