Of course, the Clan was shocked and distraught, again.

But this time, they thought it was StreamClan, which added to Deersky's pride. Fools, all of them are fools! She cackled in her head. 

Day after day, she left remains of prey at Hatchleaf's grave, reminding herself this was the right thing to do, until she actually believed it herself. She'd even thought that maybe, maybe Hatchleaf was beside her all along, encouraging her to kill...

Deersky shook her head from her thoughts. Another day, another prey. She chuckled at her rhyme, then shook her head again. Stop getting distracted! She childed herself, and started to hunt.

"Let all cats old enough to catch their prey gather around the High Rock for a Clan meeting!" Hazelstar, CloudClan's leader boomed, their voice echoing throughout the camp. He waited for everyone to settle before he announced, "I've called you together for one of the most important moments in the life of a Clan. Reedkit, Lightkit, Rabbitkit and Skykit have reached their sixth moon, and it's time for them to become apprentices. Reedkit, from this day on until you receive your warrior name, you will be called Reedpaw. StarClan, I ask you guide this new apprentice. Set his paws on the path he must follow to become a warrior."

Hazelstar then beckoned Pouncewing. "Pouncewing, you are ready to take on an apprentice. You have received excellent training from Robinshine, and you have shown yourself to be attentive and patient. You will be the mentor of Reedpaw, and I expect you to pass on all you know to him." Pouncewing, filled with pride, went up to Reedpaw and both toms touched noses.

"Now, Lightkit, from this day on until you receive your warrior name, you will be called Lightpaw. StarClan, I ask you guide this new apprentice. Set her paws on the path she must follow to become a warrior." Hazelstar called up Furzewing. "Furzewing, you are ready to take on an apprentice. You have received excellent training from Sundapple, and you have shown yourself to be kind and observant. You will be the mentor of Lightpaw, and I expect you to pass on all you know to her." Furzewing went over to Lightpaw and touched noses with her.

"Rabbitkit, from this day on until you receive your warrior name, you will be called Rabbitpaw. StarClan, I ask you guide this new apprentice. Set his paws on the path he must follow to become a warrior." Hazelstar met Birchskip's eyes. "Birchskip, you are ready to take on an apprentice. You have received excellent training from Nightsong, and you have shown yourself to be kind and observant. You will be the mentor of Rabbitpaw, and I expect you to pass on all you know to him." Birchskip went over to Rabbitpaw happily and touched noses with him.

"Lastly, Featherfrost has an annoucement to make." Hazelstar spoke and all eyes moved to Featherfrost. "I... I wish to mentor an apprentice, and Skykit has agreed to become a medicine cat apprentice." She swallowed harshly, her eyes fill with a daunting tiredness. "Skykit, from this day on until you receive your warrior name, you will be called Skypaw. StarClan, I ask you guide this new apprentice. Set her paws on the path she must follow to become a medicine cat." Hazelstar commanded, then Featherfrost and Skypaw touched noses. 

"Meeting dismissed." Hazelstar yowled, and the warriors went about their day, and Deersky caught some of the gossip.

"Thank goodness Skypaw decided to become a medicine cat apprentice..." "What if Featherfrost can't teach her properly?" "Finally we'll have a working medicine cat!" All those were music to Deersky's ears. Good. It means that the Clan is having doubt in Featherfrost. She perked up, surprised at a voice in her head. Who are you?! The voice didn't speak again.

Deersky shook her head. She must've been imagining things again. Ah well. She shrugged, then yawned. Night already? "Time to go to sleep." She drowsily went to the warrior's den, then curled up in a cat-ball, and fell asleep...
