D A N T E

The headlights  of the suv cut through the darkness.

My driver, Marco kept his eyes fixed on the road.

I was beyond angry, the meeting had been a disaster, a fucking disaster.

The East blood line. One of the most prestigious gangs selling cocaine worth billions. I extended a hand, the hand of a Don, and they spat on it. They dared to reject me, my offer, which could've been profitable for us.

My knuckles whitened as I gripped the leather seat. The car was silent with tense air.

The city blurred past us, neon lights and skyscrapers passed by.

"Who do they think they are, Marco?" I spat, my voice low and dangerous. "They'll regret this. They'll regret turning their backs on me."

Marco nodded, his eyes fixed ahead on the road.

My mind was elsewhere, spiraling through plans and possibilities. My thoughts flooded with revenge.

We approached the intersection of Fifth and 57th.

Suddenly  Marco slammed on the brakes, the tires screeching against the pavement, break me out of my thoughts

"Che cazzo?" I grit out. I look out the window only too see a girl. She looked tired, her body swaying slightly. ( the fuck?)

God I need sleep.

I wanted to take home, have a glass of rum, looking at the sky thinking of this situation but this girl had to ruin it this day. But something in my heart twisted when I say her tense body, Something was wrong.

I opened the door and stepped out. For a moment, time stopped when I saw her. She was beautiful.

So beautiful. I could stare at her forever.

I shake my head, ridding myself of the thoughts. As I walked towards her slowly I noticed the pure panic on her face, Her eyes looked distant as if they were somewhere far away.

"Angioletta," The words felt out of my mouth without warning. Genuinely, I felt concern for this girl. For some reason  it felt depper than that, I felt like I needed to protect her. "Are you okay?"

She blinked rapidly. She was beautiful, even if her hair was messed up. What happened to her?

"T-This is a dream isn't it?" her voice slurred.

Dream? What is she talking about?

What the fuck happened to her?

"Angioletta" I called out to her again, gently tapping her cheek trying to break her out of whatever trance she was in. Her body started to sway.

I wave my hand infront of her, trying to get her attention "Angioletta, look at me".

A small smile tugged on her lips before her knees buckle underneath her, I swept her into my arms before she could fall, that's when I felt something wet on my hand.

Blood. Her arms were covered in blood.

"F-finally I'm free" She muttered weakly, her eyes rolling to the back of her head.

Pure terror washed over me .

For the first time in year,s I felt this unsettling emotion.

"Marco, help me get her into the car," I ordered, raising my voice.

Marco jumped into action and opened the door to the back seat.

Carefully, I placed her in the backseat, her head resting gently on the leather. I got back in the front, my focus now split between my unresolved fury and the unconscious girl.

"The penthouse, Marco," I commanded.

"And please hurry" I added, waves of terror washing over me.

This girl, I don't even know her name or how old she is, but I feel like I have known her for forever and I wasn't going to let her die.

Her arms were still bleeding. so I took out two bandages from the emergency first-aid that was kept in here and tightly wrapped her arms  in them

Texting, Dr. Blaine I told him to hurry that here was an emergency. My gaze kept flickering between the girl and the road. We were gonna reach any moment now.

Suddenly the thick tension in the car was broken." please.... I'm so sorry...let me go...I'm sorry" I looked back at the girl, shaking her head even though she was still unconscious. Her forehead covered in a layer of sweat, she was shivering badly.

Rage filled me as thought of how and why this happened to her.

Taking off my coat,  gently draped it over her small, shivering frame.

The minute the car stopped, I hurriedly rushed out and took her upstairs.

All the men  standing guard outside were staring in disbelief when they noticed the girl in my arms and the  drops of blood trailing behind our path from her arms.

I saw Dr. Blaine figure, standing near the couch when I entered. He turned to me as if feeling my presence, his eyes widened when he saw the state I was in.Quickly rushing over to me, he checked her pulse. " I'll take care of her, Don. Please take her to the bedroom"

I did exactly as he said, by the time I set her down, Dr. Blaine came in with a medical kit."I'll take care of her" His eyes softened giving me a reassuring me by placing a hand on my shoulder.

Walking back out of the room, I sit on the couch. I run my hand through my hand, a small wave of relief spreading over me knowing she is in good hands.

But I couldn't help but think how she ended up in this state.

My starts to drift to how i found her: Her small body collapsing, the blood dripping from her arms. The scene replayed in my head over and over again.

The minutes turned into hours. Completely forgetting everything that happened today, the only thing on my mind was her well being.

I kept glancing at my watch and the door of the room. I was getting worried even more as the minutes passed, that's when, the door creaked open.

"How is she? Is she okay? What happened?"My questions rushed out of my mouth.

"Don, you might need to sit down for this."
