~ nine months later ~

Stay here with me. Don't leave me. I love you.

I sat in the back of the ambulance, with Lyric on my lap as we made our way to the hospital. I had Lyric turned away from Tayleigh, so she couldn't see the EMT's working on her.

I looked down at my blood stained hands and shirt, ready to have another panic attack all over again. But I tried to hide it, because every time I have a panic attack, the EMT's tend to me.

But I don't care about me right now. I just want Tayleigh.

My heart began racing as I heard one of the monitors beeping fast. "She's crashing, we're losing her..." I heard the EMT's speak amongst themselves.

"What's going on? Why is it doing that?" I panicked. "She's unstable right now, we need to get her to the hospital-" one of them began to say.

They suddenly went quiet as the sound of a long, continuous beep trumped her. I looked at the monitor, seeing a flatline.

"I've got no pulse..." I heard.

"Oh my God no...please." I hugged Lyric tighter as I started crying. "Please don't let her die. I don't want her to die. Please-" I continued to cry, holding Lyric tight...

"Erm..." I cleared my throat a little, trying not to cry from the vivid and unwanted flashback.

I sat in the visitation area, across from Malik. The both of us just silently stared at each other. I never could get used to seeing him in cuffs. In this environment. In prison.

Our parents passing changed him a lot. Pierre's passing changed him a lot. The drugs changed him a lot. But this prison...I don't even recognize him anymore.

"So you just gon keep coming here just to stare at me?" Malik finally spoke.

"Well I mean, it's kinda all I can do now. We don't have shit to talk about anymore, and when I do ask questions, you give me the same answers so..." I shrugged.

"So then why you keep coming to see me?" Malik firmly questioned. "Cause you're my brother. I once knew you..." I expressed.

"I don't anymore. I should've listened to Tay when I had the chance." I then said.

"Yea. Maybe you should've. When you had the chance. You put more trust in her than you ever did me anyway." Malik spoke.

"Okay, you know what? I didn't come here for this. I don't even know why I bother." I stood up. "I don't know why either. Nobody asked you to come here." Malik had the nerve to say.

"Then take me off your fucking visitation list. Stop calling. Cause you pick and choose when you wanna have me in your life and that's not fair. You were supposed to be there for me. But you're not." I stated.

Malik snickered a little, shrugging.

"Ight I'm done. Don't worry bout me anymore. And don't worry bout Lyric anymore. But you should know that she just had her first birthday without her father. And Pierre's dying wish was for you to be there for her. But you weren't. Cause you're in prison. For life!" I explained.
