"I'm not your TO anymore, you can quit getting me coffee in the morning," Tim remarks as Brooke sets down the cup of coffee before sitting down next to him.

"You've been saying that for the past three years," Brooke smiles.

"And every time it's true," Tim says, taking a sip of the coffee.

"You should get used to it," Brooke giggles.

"Clearly," Tim scoffs, putting the coffee down.

"You excited?" Brooke asks.

"Hell yeah, Rookie Day is my favorite day of the year," Tim grins.

"We met four years ago today," Brooke realizes.

"We did," Tim nods. "A 21-year-old fresh out of college."

"I was so nervous," Brooke shakes her head. "And now I'm nervous today."

"What could you possibly be nervous about?" Tim asks.

"This is my first time being a training officer," Brooke replies.

"So?" Tim shrugs.

"So, what if I mess up? What if I get both me and my rookie killed? What if—" Brooke starts.

"What if you stopped overthinking and realized that Anderson picked you for a reason," Tim interrupts.

"She only picked me because you recommended me," Brooke points out.

"Half of the cops recommended you," Tim corrects.

"She should've chosen Talia," Brooke groans.

"Talia just wants to be Chief, being TO is nothing but a step up the ladder, but Anderson knows that you are actually dedicated to the job," Angela reasons, sitting down on Brooke's other side.

"We had such a passive-aggressive conversation in the hallway," Brooke says.

"She can still make it to Chief without being a TO right now," Tim rolls his eyes.

"I still think I rubbed her the wrong way," Brooke frowns.

Talia enters and sends Brooke a glare before sitting down.

"See?" Brooke says.

"You're being ridiculous, now set your eye on the prize being the youngest and best TO the LAPD has ever seen," Tim says.

"All right, all right. Settle down. Settle down. So, okay, we got some new blood this morning. And some pushing the expiration date," Grey says, entering the room and starting roll call.

Tim and Angela laugh at the jibe but Brooke is too nervous to get it.

"Get up. After six months together in the Academy, you've earned the right to be here. But you'll have to prove yourself to stay. The way we do things matters. Protocol and tradition are the metal from which every cop in this city is forged. Understand?" Grey lectures the rookies.

"Yes, sir," Lucy, Jackson, and Nolan all say at once.

"Sit down. It's time to play the Training Officer match game. Our contestants are: Lucy Chen, a hotshot who made her first arrest before clocking in for work. Legacy Jackson West, who broke all his dad's records at the Academy. And John Nolan, who was born before disco died," Grey continues.

Brooke catches that joke and her eyes widen when she realizes how old Nolan is.

"And the winners are: Officer Bradford, you get our hotshot. Officer Lopez, you get our legacy. Leaving Officer Dockery to ride with the 40-year-old rookie. Now, hear me. Today is your first day. Don't let it be your last. Forget the Academy and listen to your T.O.s. They'll teach you the way it should be done. That's it. All right. Be safe out there," Grey dismisses them.
