Dot stood with a friend waiting for Bucky and Steve at the Expo.
"So what's Steve like?" The girl asked Dot.
"He's sweet and a little shy. Also, he's Bucky's best friend." Dot said as she looked around she smiled and waved seeing Bucky and Steve. Her heart thumped a little harder seeing Bucky in his uniform, but she wouldn't show any sadness. "Hey Bucky!"
Bucky smiled, waving back and walked closer. He gave Dot a quick kiss before nodding at her friend. "Steve, this is Dot's friend..." Bucky paused, not remembering her name.
"Beth." The girl responded slightly miffed that Bucky didn't remember her name and disappointed at how Steve looked.
Dot gave Steve a quick hug before putting her arm through Bucky's. "Let's go."
"You're excited, Doll." Bucky stated with a chuckle.
"Howard's gonna fail." Dot whispered with a giggle.
Bucky chuckled, and the four walked around the expo.
As the introduction for Howard started, Dot giggled more and pulled Bucky. "It's starting."
Howard made his entrance and then started his speech.
"Ladies and Gentelmen."
Dot watched her brother on stage but noticed the look Beth had given Steve when he had offered her some cracker jack.
Bucky noticed the look on Dot's face and slightly rubbed her hip.
Howard turned on the technology, and the car hovered for a second.
"Holy cow." Bucky muttered.
Suddenly the car dropped and Dot tried not to laugh loudly.
Bucky chuckled some. "Be nice to your brother Dot."
Dot gave him a slight smile. "No promises."
Bucky went to turn to Steve. "Hey Steve, what do you say we treat these girls to..." He trailed off seeing Steve gone then looked around. He spotted the recruitment office and huffed. He started walking towards it with the girls following.
Bucky left the girls outside and headed inside to talk to Steve. Once Bucky was gone, Dot turned to look at Beth.
"Really, Beth, you had to be mean to Steve."
"He's not that cute Dot."
"His looks shouldn't matter. He's a sweetheart."
"Then you date him, and I can get with Buc."
Dot slapped her hard before she could finish her sentence. "You are such a bitch."
"You are crazy and dont deserve Bucky." Beth huffed before storming off.
Dot rolled her eyes, then saw Bucky headed back. She gave him a smile. "Hey Sarge, are we going dancing?"
Bucky smiled. "Yes, we are. Come on, Dottie."
Dot punched him lightly. "Don't call me Dottie."
~ The Next Morning at the Train Station ~
Bucky looked down at Dot. "Marry me, Dot." Bucky had asked her multiple times over the night.
Dot sighed. "Fine, I'll marry you when you get back."
Bucky smiled and pulled out a ring. "I don't have much, as you know, so I made it for you from stuff at the boatyard.
Dot smiled. "I love it."
Bucky slipped the ring on her finger, then kissed her hard before pulling away some.
"Come back safe to me, Bucky."
"I will." Bucky replied.
Dot watched Bucky board the train and stood until it was gone before looking down at the ring on her finger. "Please come home safe." She whispered.
