Horace stared up at the ceiling as he thought about his current situation.
He had been in an psychiatric care facility for a few days now, and didn't seem to be getting out any time soon.
A few years ago at the age of sixteen, Horace had been diagnosed with a bipolar disorder. He'd always struggled with his disorder, but after he'd gone off to college, his symptoms had worsened.
Between juggling his job and schoolwork, Horace's mental state plummeted, and his mother noticed that when he'd come home for Christmas break. Unfortunately for Horace, she'd placed him in this facility, and he hadn't seen her once since he'd been here.
His mother's reason for putting him in the facility was because she'd seen him have this low point in his life once before, and he'd tried to take his life. She didn't want to take any chances, so she got him the help he needed while she could.
Horace thought his well-being was well enough for him not to be here, and he wasn't scared to show that he didn't want to be here.
Horace had no connection to the outside world, and barely knew what time of day it was or what day it was, but he was sure he'd missed out on Christmas Day.
