~A Few Days Later~

Dot sat in a corner booth at the diner reading as she drank a milkshake.

Bucky was walking by with Steve but stopped seeing her in the window. "There's Dot."

"She's reading."

"It's perfect." Bucky replied, going inside to talk to her.

Steve sighed. "She's gonna throw that milkshake at him." He followed behind a few feet back

Bucky walked up to Dot and smiled the smile that tended to make girls melt. "Hey, Dot."

"What is it, Barnes?" Dot asked. "I'm reading."

"Your hand looks heavy. Can I hold it for you?"

Dot looked at Bucky, closing her book with a sigh. "Wow, that was just.. wonderful. Let me just fall right into your arms." Dot rolled her eyes, getting up and walking out.

Bucky tilted his head in confusion.

Steve tried not to laugh. "At least she didn't throw her milkshake at you."

"It didn't work. That line always works." Bucky muttered.

Steve sighed. This was going to be a long few days.

Over the next few days, every time Bucky saw Dot, he would try to charm her with the same lines he would usually use. He has never been rejected like this before, and it definitely intrigued him. Dot would just huff and walk away. Over the years, she had heard every line a guy could come up with. She didn't need or want a Playboy in her life. Her brother was already a constant headache in her life.

After three weeks, Bucky and Steve found Howard and Dot having lunch.

Steve groaned slightly. "She's gonna reject you again."

"She can't just keep ignoring me." Bucky replied as they headed over.

"Look, Dotty, here comes puppy dog." Howard stated with a smirk.

Dot glared at him and kicked him hard on the shin. "Stop calling me Dotty."

Bucky took a breath and then looked at Howard nodding slightly before putting his full attention on Dot.

Dot leaned back. "What line do you have for me this time, Barnes?"

"No line." Bucky replied. He sighed. "Look, I haven't been able to get you out of my head. I know you're a really smart Dame and would never go for a guy like me, but I'd really like the chance to show you I'm not like all the other meat heads you've met."

Dot looked at Bucky and then glanced at Steve, who was behind him. Steve gave her a slight nod, letting her know Bucky was being sincere.

"Okay then, Barnes. The carnival is intown at Coney Island. We can go there on Friday."

Bucky smiled. "I'll meet you here at 6?"

Dot nodded and then watched as Bucky left with Steve.

Howard chuckled. "Wow, Dotty, you got the Playboy to beg."

Dot rolled her eyes and punched Howard in the shoulder. "Stop calling me Dotty."
