Rudraskh's POV:

The city lights flickered outside the car window, but I barely noticed them. My mind was elsewhere, trapped in a loop of thoughts I couldn't escape.

I flexed my fingers against my thigh, exhaling sharply. My phone sat face-up on the seat beside me, silent.

No calls. No messages.

And why would there be?

I never told her I was leaving.

A bitter weight settled in my chest as I recalled the morning. I had driven her to her parents' house for the pagphera ritual, watching her disappear through the door with that soft smile lingering on her face. She was happy. Relaxed in a way I rarely saw her.

And I, like a damn coward, had walked away.

Not because I didn't want to say goodbye. But because I didn't trust myself to.

Because if I had, I knew what would've happened.

I would've stayed.

I would've found an excuse, delayed my flight, done something stupid.

So, I did the one thing I was best at
-I left without a word.

I had barely made it halfway to the airport before the unease settled deep in my gut. It gnawed at me, persistent, until I finally gave in and grabbed my phone.

Not to text her.

To text Anika

"Is my wife there with you?"

"Yes, and she's sleeping like a baby.
Look"

The reply came faster than I expected. But instead of a sarcastic remark or an interrogation, I got something else.

A picture.

Shivanya.

Curled up in bed, lost in sleep, her fingers curled around the pillow like she was holding onto something precious. The city lights cast soft shadows over her face, highlighting the peaceful rise and fall of her chest.
