It had been his fifth day in the hospital. The doctors still gave her the same information that he was in a stable condition. She was wondering how long it would stay like that and she was also wondering if she would still be strong.
The news about Seb in a coma had been spread all over the media. Ferrari as his team had made a statement regarding the accident at the Bahrain GP and they also said that they were considering to appoint Antonio Giovinazzi as his replacement during his recovery and as he raced for Alfa Romeo, Ferrari would consider one of their young drivers to fill in his position.
Aimee decided to enter his room. Although it was always just a monologue conversation, she preferred that than just waiting outside the room. He had been looking a bit thinner and it truly hurt her.
"Seb, today is the fifth day that you are here. When will you wake up? Aren't you bored here? Don't you miss our home? When we get back home, I promise you that I'll make everything you like. Your favourites. Apple pie, schnitzel, pasta, anything. That sounds good, right?"
Aimee wiped her tears with the sleeve of her crewneck. "Your family, friends, and team mates are all waiting for you. You have to keep fighting, like you always do on track."
She caressed his cheek gently before yawning. Lack of sleep made her eyes feel so heavy. She put her left arm on his bed and rested her head on it until she fell asleep. Her right hand was holding his.
Argh.. Shit..
In her dream, Aimee could hear her husband cursing and groaning a lot. She tried to get closer as she wanted to help him but he slowly disappeared. But his voice was still very clear in her ears.
My head..
She slowly opened her eyes and that voice was still very clear. She then glanced at Seb to find out that he was awake. His forehead was frowning as if he was enduring pain. "Seb!"
Aimee made sure that what she was seeing was real that he was conscious. She quickly pushed the emergency button to call some nurses. It didn't take too long until two nurses came in and one of them came back outside once she realized that Seb had woken up out of a coma to call dr. Hassan and dr. Radhi.
When both doctors entered the room, Aimee was told to wait outside. There, she told his parents, Fabian, Antti, and Britta about how Seb started to gain his consciousness. They all sighed a relief and felt grateful about it. But still, they were wondering how Seb actually was after he was out of a coma.
Around 10 minutes later, dr. Hassan, dr. Radhi, and both nurses went out of the room. "We are so grateful to tell that Sebastian is out of a coma," dr. Hassan said, which made all of them smile. "He surely feels a lot of pain all over his body, so let him have enough rest. But for now, as he's awake, I think that he's searching for his family. We give you around 10 to 15 minutes, then we can discuss about our preparation for transferring him to Zürich."
"Alright, thank you very much, dr. Hassan."
"With pleasure, Aimee. dr. Radhi and I will be in consultating room if you look for us."
After the doctors and nurses left, Aimee looked at Heike and Norbert. "We should come inside now."
"Sure."
The three of them walked into the room and they saw Seb looking straight to the ceiling. As he realized that there were people coming in, he glanced at them. "Mama."
Heike bowed a little to kiss her son's forehead. "My son. We are so grateful that you are awake."
"My whole body hurts so much."
"I know," she nodded.
"Papa."
It was Norbert's turn to get closer to him. "Seb, you really worried us. But we are now happy that you have been out of a coma."
